Sounds like a good idea to me-but hard to say on such scant information.

Basically I’m thinking of starting my own business running after school groups which takes aspects of mindfulness and meditation with fun and helping kids to understand emotions ect but I’m not sure it’s something people ‘buy in to’ if you get me

I think it's a great idea, but you may want to sell it as just an after school club unless.you live in a particularly lentil weavery area.

I buy into it, would love this for my kids.

I have been reading about mindfulness and meditating a bit using the headspace app. I can't stop telling people how good it is.

My DD is primary 3 and they have meditated since primary 1 so schools so hopefully many are aware of it.

Itsallgoingtobefair - yeah I get what you mean! Thanks. I just thought i wanted to get a view on if it’s just something I love and can see the benefits of and have researched. Particularly for ages where they are sitting sats. Our school and local schools don’t seem to incorporate this kind of thing into daily school life which I believe would be beneficial.

LML83 - me too love headspace. And love the kids versions.

I think it's a great idea, even for my 4yo she's struggling with falling asleep at night and id think this would help.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 22/07/2018 14:29

Isn't that one of the new Brownies badges? I think it's quite well known about so people would be open to it. They have a weekly session at DS's school

MuddyForestWalks · 22/07/2018 14:31

The local state primary near me already runs a weekly mindfulness club and we are very much not in a lentil weavery area.

Brilliant idea!

But on a practical note - if it's straight from school to class - I would ensure there was an opportunity to have a healthy snack and a drink and a run around between the two as many primary school aged DC are pretty exhausted after a long school day and wouldn't be in the right frame of mind to meditate unless they had had a good break!

Scoopofchaff · 22/07/2018 14:37

And yes I would give it a child friendly name like "mind games" or some such! (maybe not that!!) Sometimes DC can be reluctant to try something new so classes needs to sound appealing!
