Almost and refusing to poo on toilet

Hi, just wondering if anyone has any advice, I think I've tried everything.

DD is 5 in September and had been going to the toilet a wee for over 2 years although she isn't dry at night yet. She flatly refuses to poo on the toilet or potty. I feel like I've tried everything and with 8 weeks until reception I need to get it sorted.

She helps herself to the nighttime nappies and does one in the nappy so isn't soiling her knickers and when I've tried to hide the nappies or go cold turkey she holds it in for days and then gets constipated so I have to put a nappy back on her while she does it. I'm quite sure she wouldn't do one at school when she starts she would just hold it in until she is ok home.

I'm now thinking I may just need to bin the nappies completely and have a few wet nights changing bedding if need be.

I've tried bribes, helping fairies, chatting to her, telling her she must do it, reward charts, I've tried being strict but nothing is working and she is incredibly stubborn and wilful. I also told her we are going to see the doctor to chat with them about it and she starts shouting and crying.

Anyone got any advice? Thanks

There are a lot of story books about pooing featuring animals or cartoon characters, these helped my DD years ago. Also if she is using the toilet and she poos the water may splash up on to bottom and feel weird, similarly if she has has a wee in the potty first. I used to put sheets of loo roll in the bowl to stop the slash. It will come in good time.

It's very common, first step is letting her use a nappy, but getting her into the toilet when pooing.

Then after that is going well have her sit on the toilet in the nappy.

Then cut a hole in the nappy so the poo is going into the toilet.

Then cut most of the nappy away, and you're done.

It'll take about 6 months to a year.
