My ds does sleep through (mostly) apart from the odd stir when he needs repositioning but goes straight back off. Not sure I will ever wnt to put him in his own room the thought terrifies me, I dont think i'd get any sleep!
When did you put yours in their own rooms and how did you cope?

Mine went at 5 months, on the 1st of jan. easier for me to have her next to my bed while BF as well. great when she went in her room though, more paranoid when I cen hear her.

Re: matter of cover over their heads, is it better to use those sleeping bags with arms then (after 6 months I mean). What do you use after 18m?

DD 6 weeks

DS was 6 months ish I think... I don't remember I know it was when we had to move him out of the crib because he was leaning out head first!!!

mumblechum · 28/05/2007 23:34

2nd night out of hospital (he was 4 weeks old by then).

DH couldn't sleep for all the snuffling.

DS was about 6 or 7 months I think.

PizPizPiz · 29/05/2007 14:24

5 days. Couldn't stand the noise.

PizPizPiz · 29/05/2007 14:26

and we coped very well. We left both doors ajar, she only woke up to bf and settled back really well. It's never been a problem, quite the opposite. Ans she's always been a very good sleeper.

LindzDelirium · 29/05/2007 15:34

DD was 3 days old when she went in her own room. Worked really well for us but may not work for everyone.

mummynumnum · 29/05/2007 15:55

2 wks old. Small landing and could hear her really well. Although I would co-sleep in her room if unsettled and dh needed sleep for work.

MaMonkey · 29/05/2007 15:57

My daughter (you know, I don't think I'm EVAH going to get tired of saying that) is 14 months and is still in with us.

Mind you, she is turning into a completely unsleeptrained nightmare, so I wouldn't listen to me.

MonkeyandBabyBoo · 29/05/2007 16:01

Both from birth

Mindles · 29/05/2007 16:01

Does anyone know the numbers? I know that the risk of SIDS drops "dramatically" at six months but does anyone know what dramatically actually means?

DS is five months this week and disturbs my sleep something chronic, but I too am terrified of putting him in his own room before the magic 6 month mark.

mylittlefreya · 29/05/2007 16:53

Mindles - I'm the same - my dd is 5 and a bit months but I'm hanging on for that 6 month mark. Though maybe the silence will wake me when she is moved?

Mindles · 29/05/2007 17:01

That's what I wonder too! Though I have to say I sleep wonderfully when he goes to my mum's, so maybe it'll be ok? Do you have monitors? We do - we have them on in the evening before we go to bed, so we'll just leave them on once he's in his own room. They are just bog standard Tomy ones but they're ever so sensitive, you can hear him breathe through them!

mylittlefreya · 29/05/2007 17:06

We have amonitor but it crackles a bit. I expect I'll get used to it. It's a bit lie sterilising everything too - suddenly at 6 months the danger is going to be past, it doesn't matter anymore!?

about 8 months I think. I was very sad to move him but he was turning into a ridiculously light sleeper. I used to have to turn the pages of my book completely silently and undress in the loo!

Upside - he slept better.

Downside - now if he has to share with us, like on holiday or something, he doesn't sleep at all. And neither do we.

emwad · 29/05/2007 17:12

SIDS is rare in babies under 1 month, rising to a peak during months 2 and 3, it then reduces each month until 6 months. 90% of cases have happened in babies under 6 mth.
The FSID fact sheet ishere or babycentre uk here

They explain it well.

archiesmummy · 29/05/2007 17:14

Wow, most of you put them in their own room so early. DS is 17 months and we still co sleep

Lolly68 · 29/05/2007 17:17

Six months for my DD. Thought she would have trouble settling but she loved it.

tinymum · 29/05/2007 17:19

None of mine went in their own room until they were over two.

MrsJetson · 29/05/2007 17:24

6 months

MuffinMclay · 29/05/2007 20:58

7 weeks. He was keeping me awake, and vice versa. I'd do it earlier if there was a next time.
