Hi, My daughter is just over a year old so I am going to put her onto cows milk, my sister in law told me I should dilute the cows milk down, I never done this with my son but he's 7 so may of changed the rules, how did everyone else do it?

Thank you :)

No, there is no point in diluting it. If you required, you can mix it with formula milk if your lo rejects it at first

Thank you, I did think it was a bit odd to dilute

You don’t need to dilute it. It is up to you. I had to do a straight away at 11 months to soya on medical advice. At 12 months I started to put it in a cup.

You can mix formula and milk together if you want. There are no hard and fast rules.

With my three, I introduced cows milk as a little drink in a cup with an afternoon snack at about 11 months. So they were used to the taste then a couple of weeks later swapped morning bottle for a cup of cows milk and lastly switched the bedtime bottle to a cup of milk once we finished the last tub of formula. All three love milk!

I did pretty much the exact same as the above poster. Introduced it in a cup as a drink with a snack and then swapped out the morning bottle and then the bedtime one over about a month

DD was having 9oz formula at bed time so we started by doing 6oz formula:2oz cows milk then gradually increasing the ratio of cows milk to formula over a period of a 2-3 weeks until she was having purely cows milk. It's warmed and from a bottle and she has it at bedtime. She won't take it cold/from a cup.

likeacrow · 15/07/2018 06:24

(Whoops. That first ratio should obv say 7oz formula:2oz cows milk.)

Have you been giving it in food? From 6 months my DD was having it in cereal and scrambled eggs etc so I was fairly sure she didn’t have any issues with it so after she was one I just gave it to her in the morning for a few days then started in the evening as I wanted to make sure it didn’t give her a tummy ache although that was probably me bring over cautious

Yes she'd had it in some food before - porridge, scrambled eggs etc but she was drinking her formula at room temperature...the coldness seemed to throw her a little at the beginning but she done well, had a bottle before bed and then woke up but only wanted a little bit (she's been going through a phase of 3 bottles a night so last night was nice!) hoping she may start sleeping through soon🤞🏻I could do with some solid sleep Grin

This morning she's had porridge and some milk in a beaker

Thank you all
