ds standing up to wee-advice needed

hi
i have a bit of a daft question! my ds is 2 and now stands up to do a wee. thing is when he's finished he drips for ages, usually down his leg, on his underwear etc. i usually dab him with a bit of tissue to stop this but my husband thinks i'm going to have him weird, thinking he has to wipe his willy everytime he has a wee.
does anyone else do this or is it strange???

sorry i know it sounds really stupid

isn't is all about surface area, policywonk?
One dribble: not pleasant but OK
Large damp area: yuk

policywonk · 27/05/2007 16:57

Dunno about you

I am one great big damp area

It's not because of the piss, though

Definitely shake, you can always clean the bathroom floor. Can't remember ds ever using loo roll for a wee.

My sister once told me that she never wiped before she had pubic hair. I was horrified as I would/do always wipe unless there was/is absolutely no chance of getting any paper, and then I had/have to brace myself before allowing knickers to come into contact with wet fanjo. Tell me I am normal and my sister is a dirty gerty.

Pelvic squeezes NOW, policywonk

Dh has managed to get to his 40s without being bullied because he wipes.

He also always puts the toilet seat down when he has finished.

And how can a bit of tissue cause an infection?

DumbledoresGirl · 27/05/2007 17:00

You show off policywonk Who is the lucky feller?

Same here with DS (3.8), often followed by frequent changes of clothes (like yours, Jura). Luckily, such precious behaviour means that sometimes he also wipes the seat after himself "because of the mess".
I've only taught him to wipe if it runs down his leg.

FrannyandZooey · 27/05/2007 17:06

I don't know kami. Everything we do with them should be geared towards the moment when they go to school and we have done it all wrong, I'm afraid

foxinsocks · 27/05/2007 17:07

it's just easier not to wipe!

when you're out, loads of men's loos don't have toilet paper or the loos are so foul, the urinal's the only place to wee - just makes it easier if they can sort themselves out without any need for dabbing

FrannyandZooey · 27/05/2007 17:09

Ds refuses to do it, anyway, which is why I am so grumpy about the subject

edam · 27/05/2007 17:11

Maybe I'm being naive because I grew up in all-female household, but what exactly is so wrong about wiping? I teach ds to shake and wipe. He's at nursery school, part of the foundation unit at his primary so already shares loos with reception kids and I haven't heard anything about wiping being frowned upon!
