My DD is 4y10m and still in pull ups at night, which is fine. However, I am a bit miffed at still having to shell out for nappies, plus the fact that DD feels 'babyish' and embarrassed by them.

I'm hoping that there is a suitably absorbent washable alternative that won't make her feel quite so babyish. Can you help ?

Motherease Bedwetters

They aren't cheap, but they are good. I have 3 pairs - some nights they are dry, some not, but they are reliable and have more than paid for themselves.

You can sell em on afterwards too, or use on other children (can't remember if you have younger ones).

Just addin em to Bumfluff now

NomDePlume · 27/05/2007 11:18

DD is my youngest child (DSs are 15 & 13.5 !!!!)

She is never, ever dry at night and wets quite heavily despite banning drinks after 5.30pm (bed at 7-7.30) and making sure she has a wee before bed.

They are How much are you spending on pull ups though and do you see dryness any time soon?

You can normally get 50% back through nappy classified ads (or if you try looking on [www.thenappylady.com] there might be some used on sale).

I bought mine when DD was about 2 1/2 so I've had 18 months use out of them already.

Have added em to BumFluff

FrannyandZooey · 27/05/2007 11:34

I am interested in these

Do they hold as much as a usual eco-disposable? Having said that, ds's nappy is nowhere near full in the morning, so it might be ok anyway.

Thanks for starting the thread NDP

Do the motherease ones come in any funky patterns/colours or just white ?

I would say we are spending £15 every 3 or so months, so I suppose the cost is not massive but I feel for DD who is frequently @ her 'bedtime knickers'

Its been a long time since I've used disps on DD, but I know that we have had leaks before with normal pull ups, and then only time we get leaks with these are if her PJ bottoms are too tight round the top and it pulls down the waistband. (I tend to give her a hipster look and just make sure the PJ bottoms are resting on the actual nappy rather than over the waistband)

Flame · 27/05/2007 11:37

Just white

I keep meaning to get some non-iron fixing fabric pens and letting DD loose with them.

NomDePlume · 27/05/2007 11:38

Flame, no I don't see dryness anytime soon. If I were to buy 3 of the bedwetter pants, then that would equate to about 9 months of disposables, I am hoping that she will be dry in that time, but obv I have no guarantee

my dd doesn't wear pj's, she's too much of a wriggler, she just gets tangled up. Oh yes, and she sweats like a horse in bed too, lol.

it's a shame that they only come in white. Could they be dyed with washing machine/normal fabric dye ?

OP posts:
Flame · 27/05/2007 11:43

I don't think it would take because the outer is polyester (have tried to dye the motherease wraps before).

Possibly shoe dye (for satins etc) might do it, or you could have white outers with bright pinks etc inside.

If you type "bedwetter" into the for sale search here someone is selling smalls for £9

UniSarah · 27/05/2007 19:54

I found "klecksi" finger paints from Lidl gave boys ME wraps a new colour scheme that didn't wash off.

Flame · 27/05/2007 20:52

Unintentional?

gess · 27/05/2007 20:57

Lollipop do eenie incontinence pants. They look like cotton pants and can be used with a disposable degradable pad or a prefold.

WigWamBam · 27/05/2007 20:59

NDP, if you fancy trying the Motherease Bedwetters, I have a couple of pairs going spare. I bought them second hand for dd but she wouldn't have them on - tried them on and hated them.

They're a bit grey (good excuse for trying out the dye/fabric pens ) but there's plenty of wear left in them if you wanted to try them.

dissle · 27/05/2007 21:04

Where did you get them from wiggy?
Are they ok for 3/4 year old boys?
Ive just gone on that website and im totally confused...there are millions!

WigWamBam · 27/05/2007 21:08

Dissle, I bought them from someone here - Gingerbear, I think.

It's really quite confusing, isn't it - but Flame knows what she's talking about, she'll put you right!

chipmonkey · 27/05/2007 21:11

I find the Mother of Eden ( Fuzzi bunz)Overnight Undies very good. They have never leaked for me. Although ds2 has sometimes forgotten to put them on. Also only available in white, alas!

GiantSquirrelSpotter · 27/05/2007 21:15

What's better, those massively expensive motherease, or eenie things?

Flame · 27/05/2007 21:23

lol I've only tried the motherease ones. Keep meaning to try the mother of eden ones too (don't like to sell things I've not used), but it feels like a waste of money when we have enough for DD iyswim.

gess · 27/05/2007 22:38

eenies are like proper incontinence pants - depends on how comfy the pad is. I haven't used them at night (just to send ds1 into school in when he was in mainstream), but I am going to try them soon at night if ds1 will let me.
