Newborn sleep

I have a 15 day old baby girl, who I am exclusively breast feeding, she feeds on demand throughout the day, and at night I wake her every 4 hours.
She was born a week late and weighed 5lb15oz, by day 3 she was 5lb11oz and by day 5 she was back to birth weight, she was weighed 2 days ago and was 6lb12oz so her weight gain is fantastic. My issue is, I struggle to wake her for feeds in the night, I try stripping her down, changing her, talking to her, putting lights on etc, but it's such a struggle, and then when she feeds she keeps falling back to sleep and letting go.
Is it time for me to start leaving her to wake me up instead??

I think if her weight gain is good and she's feeding well in the day you're fine to leave her to sleep at night. And very lucky! Just don't count on it lasting:)

If gaining weight then no need to wake for a feed at night. Enjoy it while it lasts!

I'd think that providing she is gaining weight and continues to have wet nappies then leave her to sleep. Some babies do sleep for long periods from birth so sounds like you may be lucky (for now! Ha ha). I have a 10 week old who is EBF. He generally wakes twice through the night but only for 5 minutes really so just for a quick drink rather than a full feed.

Could you dream feed her? Feed without waking her fully.

Rub your nipple on her top lip, just brush it gently as she’s asleep. It should make her open her mouth eventually so you can sleep feed her.
She’s gaining weight though so there isn’t much need to wake her at all

I have a two week old too and last night she slept about 6 hours, in the end I woke her up because my breasts were about to explode!

I never had this problem with DC1 who woke about 5 times a night until she was about 5 months old, so the question I would like to add to the OPs original question is what do you do about nappy changes for a baby that is otherwise fed, asleep and content but has a slightly wet/dirty nappy. I feel guilty leaving her in it but really don't want to wake the whole house up by changing it (screaming is inevitable).

This happily sleeping baby lark is all new to me.

Pastabest I always changed a dirty nappy as soon as I noticed it. Wouldn't wake a baby to change a wet one though, not unless it was hanging down by their knees anyway!

I've attempted dream feeding, however, she seems to take after both myself and her dad in that once she's asleep she's like a log🤦🏽‍♀️(not complaining) and putting my nipple on her lip has zero affect on her. 😊
I think I'll try her tonight and see how we get on, I'm sure she will wake me up at some point but I just think, now I'm sure she's gaining weight well, why disturb her.
Thank you ladies
