My 3 and a half yo DS has only eaten half a crumpet and a handful of fries in 4 days, normal eats a limited diet but eats 3 meals a day.

He not ill but not sleeping either due to heat or from hunger pains imo.

Would you take him to a doctor for this or am i being ridiculous ?

Does he say why he’s not eating?

GruffaloStick · 05/07/2018 12:46

Any temperature?
Is he able to tell you if he feels ill or sore?

If there's no other obvious cause and he's drinking plenty of fluids I'd hold our for a day or two and see how he goes. Although it's Friday tomorrow which could be tricky if your GP doesn't offer weekend appts.

Has he been drinking?

is he drinking fluids i think id take him to maybe get throat checked can you see anything in mouth / throat area ? what have you tried offering ? have you tried yoghurt/ jelly/ice cream ECT to see if they might be easier for him to swallow

Hi

Thank you, yes he is drinking and when i ask him why hes not eating he either says ‘because’ or he says he doesnt like it, when i ask what he likes he says he doesnt like anything.

He is also not interested in ice cream or biscuits which he is usually pestering for all day.

I think i will take him to a walk in centre when my husband gets home to rule out tonsilitus or similar, if its not that then i do not know what i am going to do.

Is he drinking milk? Is he dehydrated?

It is very easy for small children to get used to not eating, especially if they have autism or any similar issues.

With the heat he might be off food if his diet is limited anyway.

Is there any failsafe? McDonald's, ice cream, yogurt, anything?

Take him to the doctor to rule anything out, but if there's anything you can think of, no matter how 'out there' that he'd eat/drink, just give loads of that.

Sleephead1 · 05/07/2018 13:28

I think I would take him to get anything ruled out if he won't even eat his favourites something must be wrong. I would maybe try milkshake / smoothie/ hot chocolate type thing.

kitchenrollinrollinrollin · 05/07/2018 13:57

Yes I definitely would get him seen.
