Me!
Because after the crappiest crap weasel day where everything went wrong, by the time I collected ds I was too hot, too broke, too tired and too stressed to provide a decent meal or read with him. He's currently watching YouTube in bed eating an odd assortment of food that didn't require cooking.
Ham, cheese, raisin and strawberry surprise anybody?? Yum!!
Please cheer me up by telling me that you're in the running too? Grin

Oh he will survive. Dont stress about it.
Tomorrow is another day and all that . Hope it is a better one x

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 27/06/2018 19:09

I bet he thinks that's a real treat! The fact that you feel bad about it shows that you are a good parent and it's not an everyday occurrence. This heat is draining for everyone, have a rest yourself, let him enjoy his xx

FluffyMcCloud · 27/06/2018 19:12

You fed him! You are a wonderful parent Smile

My DD has had 2 slices of pizza and some jelly beans and is also having screen time while I attempt to clean my shit tip of a house! The heat is getting to everyone - don't beat yourself up!

KlutzyDraconequus · 27/06/2018 19:15

So he's loved, fed, provided for... And has YouTube...

Sounds lucky to have a decent parent to me.

Meanwhile my next-door neighbours put their 2 year old in a paddling pool in the garden and went inside... I shit you not.
I sat beside my fence for almost an hour to keep an eye.. the most they did was look through their door at her..
(It was only 2 inch of water and lots of balls... but thats not the point... It's still dangerous imo)

RideSallyRide76 · 27/06/2018 19:37

Bless you all..... beginning to de stress now and yes ds is pretty happy with the arrangement Grin just hope he doesn't expect it again tomorrow. Thank you!

Ever heard the saying, "All fed, none dead"

Mine aren't eating massive hot meals with the heat, we only get a few nice weeks a year. It's not going to do them any lasting damage.

GreenBudgie · 27/06/2018 20:43

Don't beat yourself up, your boy is safe, clean, fed and loved.

MrsJonesAndMe · 27/06/2018 21:36

Sounds like a great treat. Hope tomorrow is a better day for you.

Sunrise888 · 27/06/2018 21:52

Oh god I do that too. My baby went for a week with peanut butter sandwiches, supplemented with cucumber and fruit, for lunch, sometimes dinner as well, because I didn't have my sh*t together to get a meal going. It's better now but I've replaced peanut butter sandwiches with a fried egg when I'm stuck for ideas

ClownStar · 27/06/2018 21:58

I got home so late, hot and knackered the other day, with an equally late, hot and knackered DD, that I didn't have the time or energy to cook, then eat, then bath her, so I made her a peanut butter & banana sandwich and handed it to her quarter by quarter in the bath.

She thought it was a huge treat. Grin

Rainatnight · 27/06/2018 22:00

That meal has all the major food groups! Grin You're doing fine. Flowers

Harrykanesrightsock · 27/06/2018 22:02

You are doing a fine job. Really.

RideSallyRide76 · 27/06/2018 22:04
Grin Chuckling at the peanut butter sandwiches in the bath!!!

I forced my son to wear shorts as per school recommends due to the heat he broke my stereo I didn't go mad just quiet on him he bloody hates that

cricketmum84 · 27/06/2018 22:08

I made my lovely sweet angelic 9 yo DD cry at the summer Fayre she has been looking forward to for ages :( Waited outside her classroom at home time and there was no sign of her, teacher closed the door and I panicked! Spent 15 mins going round the Fayre on the school fields to find she had volunteered on one of the stalls so come out early but nobody thought to mention it to me! I did that thing where you shout at them because you are so relieved that they haven't been carried off by a weirdo.
Was too hot to cook so took them to McDonald's for tea. She doesn't seem to be permanently scarred by the experience so I'm thinking it can't have been that bad really!

RideSallyRide76 · 27/06/2018 22:30

Cricket that does sound stressful though and really bad that they didn't tell you!

@ClownStar that's genius, peanutbutter sandwiches are so messy! Maybe we should do all messy meals in the bathtub, porridge, spaghetti, etc, followed by a hose down. Better yet, all meals in the bathtub!

buffysummers4 · 28/06/2018 10:17

The other day I started walking away from the car with 4 year old walking beside the pushchair and then I realised pushchair was empty and I'd left the baby in the car!! Luckily baby hadn't noticed but at least you didn't forget your child...!

SquishySquirmy · 28/06/2018 10:22

My dd just missed a school induction morning for the second time. Sad
It looked really fun, and she would really have enjoyed it.
The reason is because we arrived home very late last night, after spending a few days with my mum who is very seriously ill in hospital in another part of the country. I asked dh (before he went away with work) to check the calender in the kitchen. and see whether there was something on this week. Did he? No.
And I forgot to check late last night.

I feel so guilty for poor dd, but I just dont have the head space to be as organised as I should be.
I feel so bad though, and I know I probably look like a shit mum to the nursery and school.

RideSallyRide76 · 28/06/2018 19:30

@SquishySquirmy oh no! It's hardly surprising if you're worried about your mum!! Tell your dh he needs to step up (hopefully he is already!!)

@buffysummers4 I did almost leave him on the driveway in his car seat as a tiny newborn. I think forgetting a baby (hopefully momentarily) is more common than you'd think!!

You'll love this...simeone I know had a shit fit cos her MIL had only shop bought cake when she and the kiddie winks visited. I thought she was joking but she was deadly serious...

Mendingfences · 28/06/2018 19:36

ride in my house that kind of meal is known as a 'choosing plate' and is often requested for breakfast Grin

Snoopysadog · 28/06/2018 19:46

We sometimes have meals like that through choice-dc love it dh not so much! We also have a name for it but can't say as may be outing! Like a little buffet really. Anyway hot meals in this weather? Pah! Very overrated iuam. Your dc prob thinks of it as a treat Smile

Namethatchange · 28/06/2018 19:51

My DCs love a picnic dinner and a picnic lunch and a picnic breakfast Grin
Its perfect in the hot weather and with a bit of salad and fruit perfectly healthy.
