hi is anyone used these drops Biogaia for colic relief for babies? My baby is 2 weeks old and he is struggling with gas wind, colic. He is crying, bending his legs, his face became red, and also he doesn't want to burp after feeding I'm holding him and then when i put him on bed he vomits. Today i asked the midwife about these probiotics but she said she doesn't know them and she doesn't recommend me something that she doesn't know. I got recommendation from my cousin who lives in Switzerland and she is using them since birth and her baby is 3 months d and she said they are fantastic. I want to know if someone was using them here in UK? I can see they can be order online from BioGaia.co.uk

Our DS has suffered with reflux since birth, and we were told that he has a cows milk protein allergy. The dietitian recommended these to me to help keep him regular as he sometimes suffers with constipation and trapped wind. He has been on them for almost two weeks and we have seen a slight improvement, especially with the trapped wind. I ordered mine from amazon.

Hi Op,
Funnily enough I took these drops today to ask the Paediatrician if ok to use and she didn't know, but I'm seeing a dietician on Monday to discuss CMPA as my little girl had a bout of diarrhoea for 3 weeks out of the blue and I wanted something help with her gut bacteria.

I was nervous as it said to add to the formula and my understanding is nothing should be added to formula? But anyway I can let you know. I think they are fine to be honest some good reviews on Amazon.

I live in Germany and they're often recommended by midwives over here. Apparently you need to stick with them for quite a few days before seeing an improvement. Also carefully read the instructions - from recollection you have to store them in the fridge after opening.

@chloechloe that's good to know!

I started to use from today so let see if there will be any improvement even I was told my midwife not to use them as she doesn't know them. I know my cousin said to me not to mix with formula or breast milk just to use small spoon and to give to him. I did in that way with small plastic spoon and my son accepted. I'm not sure if they need to be stored in the fridge, on the leaflet says that should be store in room temperature up to 25 degrees or if is more than in the fridge.

Yes, we just use the spoon. It's much easier!

I tried them and it made no difference to my baby who had the same symptoms. It turned out to be a milk and soya allergy, once I cut that out the reflux went.

Madamswearsalot · 28/06/2018 19:10

I used these when my DS was about 6 weeks old and had spent those 6 weeks screaming (not so silent reflux!). I think they made a difference.

We did put them in with the formula and never experienced a problem.

This can be a hard period to get through. Be kind to yourself and know that it will get better as your baby grows into their own body.

Hi my 8 week old baby has been suffering with the same problems and we've found a combination of colief and biogaia very effective actually we ran out of probiotics and the result was two horrific nights of yelling and struggling to pass wind and poo. I found that there has been some research to show that probiotics can help here is an article I found www.whattoexpect.com/news/first-year/new-research-shows-probiotics-might-help-colicky-babies-after-all/
Hope that helps

I tried few days when my son was 3 weeks and that time he has lots of dirty nappies so someone told me it might be from probiotics Hmmand then i stopped giving him. Then i tried infacol for 2 weeks and it was horrible, nothing helped, my son was crying terrible almost every night trying to poo or wind. But as i said I'm first time mum I'm listening some advice from some others they said i need to try at least one week with infacol then i will see some results 😏😏 i didn't see any improvement and them I decided again to try these probiotics which I stopped in beginning. Now my son is already 4-5 days on them but i saw biiiggg improvement. He is doing much easier poop and wind 4-5-6 times per day and he stops crying in the night which was lasting 2-3 hours and even more. I really recommend these drops they are life saving for me even after few days. Only I didn't know that i can combine them with colief ir gripe water. I was thinking to try combination with gripe water

I must admit that health professionals recommending Infacol makes me furious as does the fact that on the bottle it says clinically proven when it is absolutely NOT. The most recent research shows that Infacol had a lower impact on babies than a placebo here's a really good blog about it (from someone far more articulate than me!) www.analyticalarmadillo.co.uk/2013/04/before-you-try-infacol-try-this-blog.html?m=1

Sorry about the rant!
