My baby is 8 months old and currently daytime and night time a little vest and loads of sun cream if we go out x

Exactly what I would do too. I’d intentionally look for cotton and bamboo fabrics

Prusik · 27/06/2018 13:58

Ds is currently in a vest and cotton trousers as my living room is cool. When the sun comes round I'll take his trousers off when he starts feeling warm. Night time vest and cotton trousers Again. He's nearly six months

Sleeveless and legless romper suits in the day and then a vest and 0.5 tog grow bag at night

When mine were wee I did that too, cotton vest with poppers and loads of suncream, tried to avoid too much direct sunlight too.

DD was born during a belting heatwave, she spent the first few weeks in nowt but a nappy unless we had to go out!

likeacrow · 27/06/2018 14:00

Just vest & nappy for bed. Day time usually
a romper if going out and often just a nappy if stopping in. Been avoiding going out in the afternoons as it's just too hot for me to want to risk it. But yes, lots of suncream on a morning when going out.

Prusik · 27/06/2018 14:01

Agree with pp. We're not really going out in this heat either

SinkGirl · 27/06/2018 14:02

Shortie rompers are absolutely brilliant. Also things like Maxomorra dungarees with no vest underneath.

likeacrow · 27/06/2018 14:03

Her room hasn't dropped below 26C past few nights (windows open, fan on) so even a summer sleeping bag has seemed too much. (She's 15 months.) Would do away with the vest too as she's def been struggling to sleep in the heat but last time we did that she managed to take her nappy off in the night & had been sleeping in a patch of her own wee Sad

TroubledLichen · 27/06/2018 14:06

Loose cotton playsuit/romper type things for DD. Not a big fan of a vest on a hot day as they’re often tight and fairly thick fabric. When she was younger I’d strip her right down to a nappy if it was really hot. Lots of sun cream and kept in the shade as much as possible (trickier now she’s walking). Not going out isn’t an option as we’re not in the UK so can get several weeks of very hot weather at a time. Nighttime involves warmer clothes as we have air conditioning.

QueenAravisOfArchenland · 27/06/2018 14:07

Nappy and cotton rompers. At night is a nappy and a 0.2 tog sleep/swaddle bag. (Google Ergococoon if you have a hot house. They're an Aussie brand and make v light cotton sleeping bags.)

SinkGirl · 27/06/2018 14:07

Freeze a big plastic bottle full of water (or two) and stick them in front of the fan (Make sure they’re in something to catch the condensation as they melt). This really helped me to cool the twins room down last summer. We bought an air con unit but it’s very loud.

likeacrow · 27/06/2018 14:08

(Still going out every day btw, just on a morning and stopping in during afternoons.)

Rainatnight · 27/06/2018 14:08

Shortie romper, no vest, here too when DD was that age. Agree with what a PP said about lots of vests being too thick

likeacrow · 27/06/2018 14:10

Ooh good tips QueenAvarice & SinkGirl. Putting a bottle of water in freezer right now in preparation!

wasthataburp · 27/06/2018 14:23

just either a light dress or short rompers. night time just long sleeve vest in her bag

chuckiecheese · 27/06/2018 14:28

Romper or dresses and sleepless vest or just nappy at night. 😀

chuckiecheese · 27/06/2018 14:29

Sleeveless sorry it's me who is sleepless Smile

SinkGirl · 27/06/2018 14:51

Think it’s slumbersack who sell sleeping bags made of muslin fabric which are great for summer

likeacrow · 27/06/2018 18:26

SinkGirl Like this?

SinkGirl · 27/06/2018 18:41

I’d put them a bit nearer so the fan is blowing straight on to them. If you have a big enough freezer (we used to but sadly don’t now!) you can keep a big stash of large frozen bottles and rotate them as needed.

Lana1234 · 27/06/2018 21:45

9mo DS currently wearing a vest in the day time and just a nappy and light blanket at night. This flats like a bloody sauna atm tho 😩

Sunrise888 · 27/06/2018 21:47

I use a parasol outdoors as well.

RailReplacementBusService · 27/06/2018 21:55

I was always a fan of the romper. Will generally cover upper arms and upper legs but looser and more comfortable than a vest. I liked the ones from GAP or M&S. This sort of thing:

PenguinJS · 28/06/2018 07:46

These type of vests are quite good for daytime as well: www.marksandspencer.com/5-pack-strappy-pure-cotton-bodysuits/p/p60145784?image=SD_04_T78_6750_ZZ_X_EC_0&color=MULTI&prevPage=plp

And like other posters I use just a sleepsuit at night and baby sleeping fine like that

likeacrow · 28/06/2018 09:18

PenguinJS
We use the strappy vests too (but cheaper versions from Asda).
