rather than buying new minkis to try at night i bought some of nappylady advertised as good condition - anyway in my opinion they are not so in an attempt to resurect them - how do you de bit fleece? - there covered in white bobbly bits especilly around the elastic - is this what happens to them generally? its as if been washed with a tissue - urgh! O and the aplix is full of all manner of colured bits and threads - i am tempted just to chuck them but hate waste! I wont be buying 2nd hand again and feel very

I have only had this experience once when buying 2nd hand and that was with fleece wraps. I think some people wash them with the nappies which causes them to go even more bobbly than they would normally.

Have you tried sticky tape to remove the fluff? What about trying one of those lint removing defuzzer thingys; that should do the job.

Applix is terrible for picking up fluff in the wash but is easily removed with your fingernails, tweezers etc to make it look as good as new. Just invest a bit of time on them and see what happens - if you are still not happy sell 'em on again (with a more accurate description)

I wouldn't let this put you off buying 2nd hand though - most people are very accurate with their descriptions, and you can always ask for a photo to confirm condition when you contact sellers in the future.

i will give it a go - they are whirling round the washer at the moment - the aplix is so stuffed you cant even see the white of it lol! Never thought of selling on as i only like to sell what i would be happy to receive - maybe im to fussy i odnt know. I suppose i could restore and re sell. Going to look for the parcel tape to de fluff. Hey this could be a new arm to my business - nappy restorer lol!

Personally I usually check for bobbling and furry applix before I sell and tidy them up as much as I can if necessary - but some people just want a functional nappy and aren't that bothered about what it looks like.

nappyzone · 23/05/2007 12:13

oh im a tidy freak!

Oh me too! I tidied up the really bobbly fleece wraps I bought and sold them on to someone else (having accurately described their condition I might add).

I have had some really lovely condition nappies and wraps off thenappylady ads - most people on there are super honest. I suppose you might have to be a bit more careful now as the site has expanded so much with ebay stopping people selling used nappies etc

nappyzone · 23/05/2007 16:37

i sat with my tweezers and started onthe worst one picking at the aplix then discovered the top of nappy is detaching fromthe rest and u can see pul type stuff underneath - i give up - was going to chuck direct in bin as obviously rotting away but am going to contact originator! and .

Don't blame you! Sorry you wasted so much time on them. Hopefully someone else will be able to supply you with some better quality minkis for your collection.

nappyzone · 23/05/2007 20:51

refunded and binned!

Bit late but...

I found the best bet was to wash them with something the same colour which has a strng dye in it - I had a rainbow one and put it in with soemthing red, it sorted all the fluff out.

spacegrantham · 26/05/2007 12:14

the amaze brush is brilliant for removing fluff, I have defuzzed fleece nappies and breast pads with it, oh also dh jacket.

I see though that it the nappy was also coming away. I am the same if I buy something second hand I feel I can't sell it on I usually give it away to someone who needs it. If you feel you can't give it away a couple of mums collect nappies for orphanges in eastern europe and africa. I think minki herself collects nappies for an orphanage and may even have fixed it to send.

I know in america they have diaper fairys that fix nappies to give to the needy and have waiting lists of people needing nappies.
