Pull ups on 5 hour flight

We are going on holiday with my BiL. My DS is 4 and still has quite a few daytime accidents and is not dry at night, DH thinks he should wear pull up on a 5 hour flight in case he wets himself or falls to sleep. My BiLs thinks he should to as it's less hassle in the airport too. Opinions?

Would you want to be put in a nappy because it is less hassle?

I would just get those puppy pad things for him to sit on in the plane. I would tell him it is in case he drops his snacks.

Does he wear pull ups for sleeping normally?

Yes he wears pull ups at night still and they are saturated every morning

Well no, but I'm 34 years old and consistently dry at night so it's a bit different. Although my pelvic floor is not what it used to be...

I totally would. Not only might he fall asleep, there can be queues for toilets etc. Just explain why to him.

I did this in the middle of potty training, as we took a long haul night flight where my daughter usually sleeps. She didn't pee in the pull up, and used the toilet fine. I don't think it set her back. She was younger at the time though. It may be more of a set back if he pees himself, for example asking for the toilet and seatbelt signs are on.... you know best whether it would upset him, but I think I wouldn't worry about it setting him back if you use pull ups for the flight. Good luck!

I totally would. Far better to just change a pull-up in the plane loo than have to strip him off, try to wash him, change his pants, and carry a bag of wet clothes in your hand luggage, as well as having to ask the flight attendant to wipe down the seat etc.

DS is almost 4 and hasn't had a daytime accident for several months (he's dry if he has a nap during the day but not at night) and we still put him in a pull-up for car or train journeys of longer than a couple of hours, just because he's easily distracted and will leave it till the last minute to say he wants to go - which is fine at home but not on the motorway in a traffic jam, or on a train with only one loo and ages to the next stop. I expect it wouldn't be fine either in a crowded airport with huge loo queues, or on a plane with only one or two loos - although we're not going abroad this year.

Thank you, we think we will use pull ups then Smile He most likely will wet himself at the most incontinent time on a flight so at least he will just be wetting a pull up and not his undies!
