Where do babies come from?

So my DCs have started asking based on friends/family members being pregnant. They are 7 and 4. Is it too young to start talking to them using the proper words? I've bought a book but it uses the full terms for body parts and shows a couple in bed cuddling and the words 'sex' etc. Are they going to be running around suggesting that couples cuddling are having sex? Blush

Probably overthinking this but as a single parent it's left to me and I don't want to make a mess of it. Should I ask their teachers first? Any advice appreciated!

I was pregnant with her brother when my dd was 4. We explained it as babies are made when mummy’s egg that’s in her tummy meets up with daddy’s sperm (showed her a picture of a sperm) and the two together grow into a very tiny baby that grows and grows until it’s ready to be born. She was much more interested in looking at videos of embryos and fetuses than she was to know about the ‘how’. That will probably suffice for your 4 year old. Your older one might have more questions (you may want to talk with them separately). I think it’s fine to explain the mechanics of it all. It’s up to you if you want to use the word ‘sex’ or just explain what happens. But I think whatever you’re comfortable with is fine. You should be able to find some resources online about sex and reproduction, but the teacher might be able to tell you where to find them.
