My three-year-old still loves her sister now she's turned one - much to my amazement, as I was Big Sister from Hell. Occasionally she'll get cross about her toys being taken (or say 'I wish Baby was a toy'!) but she still makes me stop the buggy so she can give the little one a kiss.

Can't work out where she gets this sweetness of nature from. Nothing to do with me

Ds1 (3.3) had a tantrum the other day because I wouldn't let him come up with ds2 (3mths) to help put him to bed for a nap (he's noisier than a rampaging herd of heffalumps on speed)... "It's not FAIR Mummy, I LOVE HIM!"

Bless!

Yes that is lovely. Seeing a whole new relationship, completely different from the one between yourself and baby, appear like that is a bit magical I think.

zippy539 · 17/08/2004 14:18

share your loving sibling secrets please! It's like war of the flippin' roses round my gaff (dd is one, ds nearly three).

binkie · 17/08/2004 14:34

Zippy, sounds like you've got the same layout as me - ds then dd with around 18 mths gap? It only started working when dd got mobile & ready to follow instructions ("dd come in my house" - ie under the table), so better & better after she was one.

Main tip is toys where fun is in the sharing - eg plastic tea set, velcro fruit & veg from ELC.

zippy539 · 17/08/2004 14:37

Thanks Binkie - it's so nice to hear that things might get better Off to ELC for velcro fruit and veg...

dd(2.3) has this morning been telling ds (3.5 months what all her puzzle pieces are( "dis is train Babin, go choo-choo" , and trying to put them into his hand and get him to put them in. And whenever I tell her I love her I get told "no Mummy love , love Babin"
