Box that 4yo can open but not 1yo?

DS1 (almost 4) draws all day, but if DS2(1.5) gets hold of the pens unsupervised then everything gets drawn on. I keep putting the pens out of reach when I leave the room, but then 5 mins later DS1 is moaning about needing pens.

Is there such thing as a box which DS1 could open and close by himself, but would keep DS2 securely locked out?

This kind of thing

Box that 4yo can open but not 1yo?

Hmmm, I think DS2 might work that out fairly quickly. I was think more of something that required logic rather than brute strength.

Can’t ds1 sit at the table to draw and ds2 get an aqua doodle? The pens only have water in them. You get small travel versions as well as the big mat.

I’d think of putting the pens and older child high enough up so that the younger one can’t reach.
And I think you just need to supervise, sorry! Or take smaller one with you.

We just have them in a pot out of reach of the little one but accessible to the older ones on a windowsill near the dining table. They know that they have to sit at the table to use them.

The click and lock type that are for packed lunches might work well? I think you'd have to be a particularly savvy 1 yr old to open them but they'd be fine for a 4 yr old.

Anything with a screw top

Not cheap though.

Thanks for suggestions. I like the safe! Perhaps about ort though. The main problem is DS1 draws on his own child size table which DS2 likes to sit at too and if we lose concentration and pens are left hanging around, that's when furniture can get drawn on!
