Gro clocks

I have just bought a gro clock in a bid to attempt to conquer early mornings (Confused), googling night lights the general consensus is to avoid blue lights and opt for pink/red. If this is the case why are the gro clocks blue all night? Seems a bit strange, I know it is supposed to be blue for the night sky and yellow for the sun but it just seems a bit odd!

I didn't even make it through one night with one of those. The light kept me awake as it filtered through the house, was too bright even on lowest setting and it also had to be left plugged in all the time which i wasn't happy with. Luckily I hadn't bought one, I'd just been given loan of it. I gave it back straight away! Never did need it anyway really.

Yeah I have thought the same- it’s a big design flaw IMO. I have it on lowest light setting and doesn’t seem to prevent sleep once has fallen asleep but haven’t found it helpful in its end goal. If I leave it ‘unlocked’ DS hits the buttons until the sun appears. If I lock it he frantically hits all the buttons and then appears crying because the sun isn’t there. I hope you have more success with it!

OTOH my DD loves it. We should really take it away now and make her tell the time properly (she's 8) but she's always loved it, it doesn't keep her awake and it's worked very well for her. Was great for DNiece and DNephew as well. Horses for courses I guess!

I was worried about this too but it hasn't bothered DS, and we are all sleeping much longer! He'd been up between 5 and 5.30 for at least 9 months prior to getting it in Feb just before his 2nd birthday. Within a week we were at 6.30 with no issues. Got to 7 for a while but light mornings when we were at centre parcs with their rubbish curtains had him waking earlier again, so we're now at 6.45. Infinitely better than 5am! Best tip is to have it completely out of reach and NEVER let them touch it/play with it. You have to be strict about it though or they won't 'respect' it.

You can turn the blue light off completely in the settings - after the sun's gone down the light switches off until the sun comes up again. Problem solved.

@Goblinsandfairies we were tempted to get one for DSS5 but started putting him to bed an hour earlier which seemed to 're-jig' his body clock and he's so much better now, even if he doesn't get to sleep until later than usual. He was waking up at half 5 😫

DD absolutely loves her GroClock, the blue light doesn't bother her at all, especially on the lower settings. We got it last summer (she was 3) and she understood it straight away. It really, really helped! We have it set for 7:30am and she knows not to get out of bed until the sun comes up. It's brilliant for her, but I imagine there's plenty of children it wouldn't work so well for (e.g. those who would just ignore it!).
