9 month old - food/play

My LO is 9 months old...she’s really good with food but I’m struggling to think of cold lunch ideas - I’m good at coming up with hot meals but lunches are hard work!

Also, all she wants to do is stand at our coffee table and walk around it Grin that’s literally all she enjoys doing... I try and play with her and encourage her to play with her toys but the coffee table is her place of fun haha... is this normal!!! Does anyone have any ideas as to things I can do to keep her busy? We go to the park etc but when at home she just likes to walk around and around!!

Lunches - pitta bread, wraps, humus/dips, cucumber/carrot sticks, ham, crackers, cheese, quiche, pasta salad, cous-cous, rice, cooked meats, muffins/pinwheels wioth various fillings, fruit, boiled egg. Anything goes as anything you have for lunch they can have!

Re: playing can you get some building blocks and encourage her to build at the table? Or place items around the table for her to walk to, talking about them and telling them what they are? Maybe get a sand/water table for outside.

Lunch is tricky when they don't have many teeth - I find boiled eggs, cream cheese on bread, Sweet corn, cucumber, tomatoes, ham, pasta, bread sticks now, yoghurt, banana, cheese are all good.

Totally normal just to want to practice walking, v exciting new skill!

You’ve a good answer about cold lunches but also do they have to be cold? You could do jacket potato and fillings, toast with scrambled eggs or beans etc if you weren’t limited to cold

It’s normal for kids who’re learning to walk to just want to walk. I’d try different things on the table for her to play with. Sensory stuff might get her attention

Also - re: teeth - you will be surprised what babies can chew! Their gums can manage more than you think!

Re: play my 10month old is the same, oh she also likes crawling to her book shelves and pulling all the books down. I let her crack on and enjoy. Sometimes I find it’s best to take her to soft play and work off all her energy in a a padded zone- undivided attention on a toy just isn’t going to happen yet

My 10 month old also loves pulling things of shelves and just continuously walking round. I have ordered an activity table in the hope he will be stimulated whilst walking round. But in all honesty he seems quite happy just to be on his feet.

Re food all the above ideas are great. Also if it doesn't need to be cold, I make my own veg/ tomatoe sauces and put that with pasta, or baked fruit muffins only take 20 mins ( that's with prep and keeps 3 days in tubs), my DS loves tuna and sweetcorn or shredded salmon with a touch of mayonnaise. Cheese on toast, avocado, melon slices, steamed peppers. We try anything isn't it great fun seeing their reactions

Sorry "off" shelves not "of".
