Hi guys, I’ve had to cancel plans to meet me friend who’s moving away because my 11 month old is having a bad time with teething and nothings helping, I’ve explained I’m not willing to drive over an hour to see her with a poorly baby and she just doesn’t understand and thinks I’m not making an effort to see her, she has no kids so doesn’t understand what it’s like and making me feel bad for cancelling,

Should I feel bad??
Any other parents friends like this??

Hey, just wanted to say don’t feel bad- you’re doing the right thing! If your friend doesn’t understand that your baby isn’t well, they are not a very good friend! I’m a new mum (my DD is 9 months now) and I totally see things from a different point of view now- your concern is for your daughter, and that’s a good thing! Maybe try and reschedule with her and tell her how much it means to you to spend time with her? Good luck 🙂

No, don’t feel bad. Until I became a parent I didn’t get it either. Of course your LO’s welfare must come first, if your friend can’t accept that then I’m afraid your friendship will enter a new dynamic. Just reassure your friend that you are also disappointed and you value her and see where it goes. I hope your LO feels better soon.
