How much TV does your toddler watch?

I always thought I wouldn't let my kids watch much TV. Personally, I can take it or leave it, but since DC2 arrived a few months ago, DC1 (who was 2 in April) has been watching a lot of TV. And I mean A LOT. He's very picky about what he'll watch so we tend to let him have his favourites on via Amazon TV. He's currently obsessed with Toy Story and some days we've watched all 3 films before lunch time. I try to get him outside now the weather is good but he's only interested for short periods or if he has someone to roll about with and I can't do so much of that with the baby to look after too. It's easier when DH is home but even then he often wants TV on. It's a bad habit to have gotten into but the first few months of the year with 2 under 2 were all about survival so I let it happen. He's at nursery 2 days a week and we do go out for walks/trips or to visit grandparents so it's not every day, but when I'm on my own with them both it feels like the only way to get through the day. We have tantrums if he's not allowed his programme on and i need to make a change but I don't know whether to go cold turkey or wean him off gradually or leave him too it - once DC2 is old enough to play with him he may lose interest!??! But will I have a telly addict on my hands by then? How much TV is too much?

My DD watches a lot of TV. I try to limit it but I know my boyfriend who is a SAHD lets her watch it far too much!

I'm interested in the answer to this too! I have a 2.4yo, and I'm 22 weeks pregnant. There are some days when I'm knackered (because she's been up all night) and have to stick the tv on to get through! She gets up at 6am so we tend to put the tv on in the morning after breakfast so that we each get chance to get ready without having to entertain her too much. So maybe an hour in the morning, then an hour in the evening before going up to bed. She recently dropped her nap, so if we're in I'll occasionally do an hour of tv at her old nap time to give her some "quiet" time.

2.5 year old watches maybe an hour a week. We don't really care for telly.

3 under 5 so it isn't because we didn't need it, it is just not our thing (and not great for them)

When I was pregnant with my second we watched a lot of TV because I was exhausted.
I'm 6 weeks in with a 18month old and 6 week old. DH hasnt gone back to work yet. But I'm sure I'll be in the same boat as you very soon...

None on school mornings but a couple of hours after school and obviously a bit more over the weekend

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it as long as you balance it out as you say you do.
