Error on birth certificate

So I got my husband's place of birth wrong! Does anyone know if I need to change it in order to ensure a passport application is aligned with Husband's details? It's £90 and a complete faff to make an amendment so I would rather leave it but don't want it to cause a problem along the road!

Ditto! I would love any advice about this too as I am also concerned about passport application in the future. Thanks!

When I registered my baby, the registrar made it extremely clear that any mistakes after the certificate was produced would cost us and to triple check the details before hand. I would imagine the legal document needs to be accurate as it is very likely to cause issues down the line otherwise

The dad's work place doesn't matter as one can change one's job anytime. Unless you wish to change it for future references. My husband wrote my maiden name wrong so i had it corrected. It was free but it had to be done by the general register office as it wasn't a minor mistake. It's not that complicated i did myself. The council officer made it out to be such a huge task that she told hubby that it didn't matter Hmm

Place of birth, not work place...

You need to get it changed. It's false information on a legal document and went it comes to things like passport applications, registering to marry, your child will be denied as their birth certificate and parents don't match up!

Whwhywhy · 31/08/2018 03:53

dunno if that info is more important for passports etc but my parents marriage date is wrong on mine and it’s never been an issue.

Havetothink · 31/08/2018 10:02

I would just get it changed asap, don't wait to find out it's an issue later.

Kewqueue · 31/08/2018 10:04

You definitely need to get it changed.

If it’s any consolation, DH’s birth certificate has the wrong year 😂

But may be better to err on the side of caution and amend.
