Politics of kids sports....

Both of my boys play football, one is 7 and the eldest is 12.

My youngest plays for a local boys team and they train once a week and play 4 a side games on a Sunday. No positions etc as they are young and learning the game and the spirit of teamwork.

The team had a fundraising night on Friday which was a hypnotist night at a local pub, we didn’t go and along with most of the other parents were publicly shamed on the group FB Page as only 3 parents turned up. The coaches then asked for a meeting with parents last night and we were basically told off because if we had all went the team would have made £500! I think that’s counting the chickens before they are hatched and obviously that type of fundraising didn’t work!

However to make matters worse I have woke to a FB post this morning saying they are now splitting the team into 4 different teams with 4 boys in each team, with 4 different coaches but 2 of the teams don’t have coaches so can’t play if someone doesn’t offer to coach them!

I’m astounded. I feel like saying forget it for my son but he does enjoy it! But he is in one of the teams with no coaches.

Anyone else faced nonsense like this with kids sports!

Oh find a new team OP...I left DD"s gymnastics club for similar reasons and guess what? So did most of the others.

I guess the coaches are all volunteers (mums and dads). It is a bit much to expect them to do training and matches if you are not going to support them (although a hypnotism night sounds dreadful!)
