Does a buggy like this exist?

I asked a similar question before (so I'm sorry) but the preferences have changed somewhat

Due DC1 and going away on holiday in mid september, have a lovely brand new travel system which I do not want to fly with for fear of it being damaged. So, is there any option that fits the below criteria

  • can have a carrycot for the holiday (and that can go on a flight)
  • packs down small
  • can be used as a buggy later on (ideally to not needing one anymore)

I was looking at maybe the baby jogger city mini with a carrycot? Or maybe we just buy a cheapy second hand one with a carrycot for the holiday then when DC is bigger get a cheap stroller?

Any advice much appreciated, we're aiming to get it second hand ideally so although I'm looking early thats why!

The babyzen yoyo plus fits your criteria. It's not cheap though.

2nd hand bugaboo bee

BananaBlaps · 21/05/2018 19:09

The yo yo baby zen plus but it’s pricey. People often buy as their travel system.

I have a maclaren quest which I think you can buy a carry cot attachment for but it also reclines flat so you can use from birth. It’s an umbrella fold though so doesn’t fold really small.

Babyzen yoyo.

It’s not cheap but they’re great for travel and as a lightweight buggy when you don’t want to lug a travel system around.

kiwiblue · 21/05/2018 19:11

Babyzen yo-yo. It's amazing.

BikeRunSki · 21/05/2018 19:12

I was going to say Baby Jogger City Mini. I used mine with a Phil and Ted’s “Cocoon” soft carry cot with the BJCM seat laid flat. The fixings align perfectly, but I didn’t use them).

Northernbeachbum · 21/05/2018 19:12

I'll keep an eye out for both of those second hand thank you! I hadn't expected us to be able to get overseas for a holiday before DC was over 6 months so hadn't considered this issue!

I'd like to just take a sling but DP things a pram/buggy will be ideal for evenings (he's probably right but I won't tell him that Grin)

I put DD2 in a standard umbrella fold pushchair (a Chicco lightway) that lies almost flat at 6 weeks old for a holiday. She looked a bit silly in it but it did the trick.

AprilShowers16 · 21/05/2018 19:14

We have the baby jogger and it’s brilliant, we used it as our main pram/buggy from birth and never used a carrycot with it as it goes flat. Its very easy to fold up and it small compared to travel systems etc but it’s not as light weight as a light weight stroller (still takes up considerable space in the car)

Northernbeachbum · 21/05/2018 19:18

Hmmm seems to be a lack of babyzen yoyos second hand locally! Oooh I'm glad you had a positive babyjogger experience @aprilshowers16 as I seem to be able to find plenty of those! I did see that it folds flat just wasn't sure about not being able to see him when he's in it.

Look at the gb qbit+. Lies flat for a newborn, not sure if you can get a carrycot for it. It folds down with one hand and is so easy!

mehhh · 21/05/2018 21:25

I'm the exact same at the moment I have a pioneer but it's so bloody big!! I need a lightweight small buggy with suspension, big basket, comfy and lie back... I'm really struggling to find something perfect... the Yoyo is on my list currently as everyone seems to love it! I think ideally I'd go for bugaboo bee (the price tag is just a bit steep)

INeedNewShoes · 21/05/2018 21:27

Mountain buggy Nano can now be bought with a carrycot and adaptors for various car seats. It folds down very very small.

I have the qbit+ but I'm fairly sure you can't get a carrycot for it.

Tryingtogetitright · 21/05/2018 21:30

Have you considered a baby jogger vue? It lies flat and can be parent facing as well as world facing. Doesn't fold down that small but no worse than many umbrella strollers?

Northernbeachbum · 21/05/2018 21:33

More to look up, thank you Smile

Definitely second the YoYo- bought one for travelling and liked it so much I got rid of the big buggy. It gets extra points for going in the overhead locker and being a travel system. I initially tried to find second hand but couldn’t, I definitely don’t regret buying it new.

LulusMiniEgg · 21/05/2018 21:40

Another vote for Babyzen YOYO! I’ve just got one for my 1 year old (buggy board with saddle for my 3 year old) and I’m in love! It’s so light, amazing to push, even one handed. It’s fab. Why didn’t I just get one when I was pregnant 4 years ago and cut out the various mamas&papas Urbo, silver cross pop, Baby Jogger double Ive had.

You won’t regret it OP and I work in pram shop so see loads of buggies!

Picklepickle123 · 21/05/2018 22:45

I would second the mountain buggy nano, it's really compact but very sturdy.

Northernbeachbum · 22/05/2018 07:33

I've found the mountain buggy nano at a very reasonable price new so that's looking a great prospect!

The thing is we already have a travel system so I really don't want to spend too much although I've heard so many good things about the babyzen I'm wondering if I should have got that all along

You can get 10% on www.direct4baby.co.uk on the Babyzen with code NEWREV10 Wink

Do it! Do it!
The Ginger on white frame is the colour combo I have and I was actually stopped in Morthercare by the staff to admire my buggy. It really is a showstopper!

Could you sell your travel system and put money toward the travel system? If you haven’t used it yet could you return it?

Tfoot75 · 22/05/2018 21:52

We also had city mini as main travel system, but with carry cot. If you’re going somewhere hot I’d recommend not getting the carry cot as the buggy itself fully reclined with full sunshade is much cooler and well ventilated than the carrycot, which only really gets fully shaded if you put up both hoods which would make it very hot inside I’d have thought. The fabric to the back of the seat rolls up completely when fully reclined to just be mesh which lets through a cool breeze in the shade. Also you can see through the peepholes in the hood. And can fly using an ikea dimpla bag which is a few £.

Northernbeachbum · 22/05/2018 22:00

I really like the travel system we have so I'd rather not send it back......but I'm looking into the babyzen now Blush with the newborn carrycot can you zip off the cover as I think baby might get too hot

We are going somewhere hot so good to know that about the city mini
