Bouncer!

Have a 7 week old who only likes to sleep in arms. How long is ok to leave asleep in bouncer?
I usually lift her after 10 minutes but then she wakes up.
She's over 11 pounds if that makes any difference.

It would never have occurred to me to lift DD out of the bouncer until she woke up from her nap. Am I missing something here?

(obviously would never use a bouncer for overnight sleep, just for daytime naps)

It is to do with compressed airway as they are not striking enough to hold their heads up. I would follow car seat guidelines.

I wasn't aware of any specific time limit... presumably your LO will let you know when they've had enough and want to be fed/cuddled. Is your bouncer adjustable and, if so, do you have it on the flattest setting?

I thought that it can restrict airways? It lies back more than a car seat but still in that kind of position iykwim?
So it would be ok to leave her nap there? She's my second you would think I would know!

Thanks ginger that makes sense!

Mine never napped for more than an hour at that age and her bouncer was pretty flat, definitely flatter than a standard car seat. Then the car seat guidelines are two hours, at least they are here in the US.

So OP, I think definitely ok to let baby finish her nap and you don’t need to be picking her up after 10 minutes if she’s sound asleep. That would rather negate the point of having a bouncer if you spent all that time bouncing to get them to sleep then had to pick them up again Grin

Thanks for advice, she's still asleep in it, so about 45 minutes now. Il leave her another while then get her up!

Under 6 weeks the advice is no more than 30 mins in car seat and to only be used for essential journeys

The research that the car seat recommendations are based on was quite a small number of babies, a number of whom were small/premature. We had to car seat for longer at the beginning as DS was being treated for talipes and we had to drive 2 hour round trip to hospital. I think if you are watching them and their breathing/position is ok then longer is fine! My DS is fast asleep in the bouncer as we speak.
