Hi

Feel really silly posting this but im at a loss!

3rd baby, 8mo old, everytime she poos it goes all up her back or front needing a complete change of clothes!

My other two dc are boys so i dont know if this is a girl thing or if its a problem with the nappies? I have always used pampers , experimented with other brands with dc2 but they all seemed to irritate him so just went with pampers again this time round.. am i doing something wrong?!

I think with mine they needed to be fastened tighter on the tummy for my girl compared to my boy.

gruffalopuffalo · 16/05/2018 20:55

Maybe go up a size/fasten tighter and failing that, try a different brand. I like Tesco for going further up the tummy than Pampers. Lidl Lupilu were good for keeping in poo too but not as absorbent for overnight.
Mainly though, as soon as she starts pooing I take precautions to not let her move about and squish it everywhere - just start getting ready to change asap!

Thanks both, i guess i will try a different brand, she is already in a size 4 so i think the next one up will be way too big!

Gruffalo - She is a stealth pooer so i am always sniffing her Grin my other kids think im nuts Confused

Maybe go back down a size? 4 at 8 months might be a bit big?

Happyandshiney · 16/05/2018 21:29

I have boy girl twins. My DD’s nappy always needed done up a smidge tighter.

biffyboom · 16/05/2018 21:30

My 8month old is in size 5+, yes they are a bit big, but they go so much higher up the back, so rarely get any accidents.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 16/05/2018 21:31

Thats interesting, my 6 month old has been in 4s for a while! I did think that was excessive but DS1 was in cloth by this point so I have no comparison. He must be a super-wee-er!

Dermymc · 16/05/2018 21:33

Try cloth, never had a poo leak from mine.

GummyGoddess · 16/05/2018 21:39

Different brand required, or reusables are pretty bomb proof due to the snug elastic at the back and on the legs.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 16/05/2018 21:46

Dermym has a good point, I’ve never once had a poosplosion with cloth.

melissasummerfield · 16/05/2018 22:11

Thanks for the replies, dont think i could do cloth as i spend about 23 hours in my laundry room everyday as it is Hmm

I popped a cloth nappy over the top of the disposable so at least I only had to wash the cloth nappy and not all the clothes. It lasted for 2-3 months and then no problems as solids were added to baby's diet.

GummyGoddess · 16/05/2018 22:30

If you put an outer layer over the disposable you would only need to send it for a wash after poo, can just put back on if she wees as she wouldn't have affected it. So possibly less time washing as you won't be scrubbing her clothes free of stains?

rubyroot · 16/05/2018 23:23

I have tried all the supermarket brands and find sainsbury's own brand very good- though I think it depends on baby. All others leaked for us.

Ariela · 16/05/2018 23:39

You may find you get a lot less washing with cloth nappies, go for a two part system of nappy +wrap. Both nappy & wrap will have elastic at the waist as well as the leg and therefore really unlikely to get leaks and thus less washing all round.

ThinkOfAWittyNameLater · 17/05/2018 07:08

If you don't want cloth inner just get the wrap to go over the disposal. Poopsplosions calm down after weening

WinterHasRuinedMyFace · 17/05/2018 07:55

Tesco nappies have a bit of elastic at the back. I switched over to own brand nappies from pampers for my son because pampers were leaking on literally every poo! Ocado own brand nappies are good too, but I won’t lie - I do think pampers are softer and drier on the skin. Good luck finding something that works :)
