Poo: what is normal?

I thought I'd get some opinions before potentially wasting my GP's time. MIL seems to think I should be concerned about this. I'm not sure.

DD is 15 months. Healthy, generally happy, a good eater.

She has THE MOST disgusting farts! My aunt said she smelt like a trucker Grin. A few people have commented how windy she is!

She also seems to have explosion poos, say once a week, to the point where she needs a shower as it comes out of the nappy and down her legs!! Sometimes she saves it up and it comes out in the early hours. Neither of my older children ever pooed at night at this age.

She's teething, of course and I have just put it down to this and a delightful quirk of hers Hmm.

However I wonder if she has an intolerance to something or a dodgy gut? I don't give her cow's milk, she doesn't like it. She has dairy in other forms though and with cereal.

Thoughts?

She was pretty much EBF until 6 months if that is of any consequence.

We had similar with my DS albeit a bit younger - 10-11 months. It seems he had a lactose intolerance - possibly caused by a tummy bug although we can't be sure. It was all around the time we warned him into formula then cow's Milk so it got a bit confused.

With all our dealings with the GP and my obsession over poo, I now know this: the smell, colour or consistency (unless mucusy or bloody) doesn't matter, it's the frequency that tells you if there's a problem. More than 3 a day is not normal.

We have had months of lactose free shenanigans but are now at the end of a very gradual return to cow's Milk and fingers crossed it seems ok!

Humm, might keep a poo diary for a few weeks then. Fun times Smile
