Evening all, might be bit of a silly question but how can I manage my 2 year old boys curly hair (like ringlets) from being wild? Some days it looks like a birds nest! 😂 are there any shampoo' s out for this type of hair or would it ruin his hair as he's young? Also any special brush i can use? Thanks for any help x

Co wash (washing with conditioner), Afro comb, microfibre towel. In a nutshell.

Google “curly girl method” for the longer version.

We use a detangling spray (Johnson’s but there are several to choose from) and then every so often I put some Argan oil in it to keep it soft and not too frizzy.

My 2.5dd has crazy curly ringlets. Best approach is to wash it with water and conditioner only every few days. Never brush or comb it, but tease out the curls and tangles with fingers when wet. This keeps it looking pretty decent, and is manageable.

That is the best case scenario. More often dd entirely refuses bath/ shower/ hair wash for days or weeks at a time. Her hair looks like a birds nest with huge matted sections that I eventually have to attack with scissors! Sigh.

I use a leave in conditioner spray for Dd. It means her hair is never combed while dry which makes it frizz. It also makes it easier to put up.

Another curly girl method covert here. I use a simpler version for the DCS. The Facebook group is fab

Argon oil when damp to define curls and rid frizz Smile

Shea Moisture do a good range for kids with curly and afro hair. They sell in Boots and on Amazon. They do a moisturising 2in1 shampoo and conditioner. Also for a brush I’d say the Tangle Teezer is ace.

BawbagWilbury · 18/05/2018 11:12

Wet hair & tonnes of conditioner, tease curls out using fingers

Tangle teezer is the only brush my daughter (12) will use! Worth the £££

Use a curly shampoo and then Lots of conditioner, don't towel dry, but use an old T-shirt to dry.
Put in a bit of curl product (e.g. Pink curl cream from boots) and tease out curls with your fingers as you put it in.
I wouldn't brush it at all.

GinIsIn · 18/05/2018 12:01

Don’t brush it! I like the l’oreal Pear detangling spray. I use it on me too!

Belleende · 20/05/2018 08:16

Curly girl method. Wash and detangle with conditioner (e.g. boots own coconut), rinse out, add richer conditioner and leave in (e.g. a Shea conditioner). Scrunch dry in old t shirt or micro fibre towel. Do this max twice a week.

Never brush when dry. No products with silicones or sulphates.

Lots of tips on this thread about curly girl.methos & what products to use.
Basically only comb when wet & well conditioned

I bought a cheap hairdresser spray bottle and fill it with water
Spray it on his hair and scrunch it abit so the curls go defined rather than a frizzy mess

His ringlets are so lush I never want to cut them!!!
