Hi.
My ds has just mastered turning on his tummy and does it in his sleep. The problem is he cant get back again and cries until I turn him over, i am therefore up to him 7-8 times in the night to turn him back. He sleeps in a sleeping bag and that hasnt helped and ive tried to put him nearer one side but he hits the bars and cries anyway.

Would be grateful of any help (and some sleep!)

you can get some kind of buffer things to lie babies on which prevent them turning over, they are sort of like foam floats with a band across, i'm being a bit vague here sorry but i've seen them in the mothercare catalogue or great little trading company catalogue i think, i'll check out and get back to you.

Thanks for that clutteredup, the only thing is I dont think I would get any sleep if I had anything in the cot with him cos I would worry all night about him suffocating (a bit neurotic I know!)

its specially designed for safety and to reduce cot death so at least shouldn't sufocate him xxxx

If he's old enough and able to turn onto his tummy, I thought that was fine for him to be on his tummy. I know you said he cries when he's on his tummy but what if you put him to sleep on it in the first place? Perhaps he wouldn't move if he started off like that? My DS couldn't lie on his back due to a ventouse delivery giving him headaches and a funny head so I had to lay him on his side and put a rolled up blanket behind him so he didn't roll onto his tummy but once he could roll over onto it, I just let him sleep like that and he still does.

Just been thru this with 8month old ds2, also in a grobag, i put him in sheets which unsettled him more so back in grobag, we just rode it out, unsettled for about a week but for last 3 nights and day sleeps, stirs and goes back off himself on his front, seems to be his preferred position, seemed that he just had to get used to it, not helpful in the short term sleep situation i know but good luck!!

get one of those things with the foam on two sides. You know you put the baby in the middle

Ah thankyou for findng that for me, it looks quite good actually and it could work.

I have put him on his front and left him on his front but he fidgets again and then when he cant turn back over or gets stuck, thats when he starts to cry!
