natural laxative?

Dd (2y6mo)has had no problems being dry during the day, and most nights since we strted potty training about a month ago. We are, however having big problems with poos...the first time she went to nursery in pants she pooed in her pants and the xperience seems to have really upet her. Now she save it all up for about three days, and when she can't help but go she SCREAMS! So far, whilst at home we have managed to get her onto the potty or loo, but I wondered if the screaming is partly pain from passing such a big one (!). The poos look fairly soft, but I wondered if a mild laxative would help ease things along? She does like fruit, so we give her plenty, and she drinks diluted apple juice.

I thought of maybe "doctoring" her apple juice with prune juice, would this work? any more advice?

(I meant to add, she refuses to go back into nappies, so waiting a while doesn't seem to be an option- it's all we can do to get her night nappy onto her!)

yes, prunes and apricots are great laxatives, plus liquorice. Prune juice is quite strong flavoured so you might need to build up the quantity gradually. 'Doctoring' is a great idea!

Sorry I have no other ideas as my ds is still in nappies... I'm sure the others will come back with some though..

I give my DD 23mths and DS 10mths fruit at breakfast and for pudding after lunch and this keeps them regular, always has done. So poo after breakfast, lunch and before their bath. I don't give them vast quantities but fruit and yog are the only sweet things they eat. Don't give them fruit after supper as they will poo at 6am and it wakes them up. Would rather they poo after breakfast so give them yoghourt or mousse.
Medjool dates are a fave, steamed apples, raisins, dried apricots, bananas, figs but only one, pears, mango, grapes, etc.
I'm not saying I give tons because I don't but say for breakfast for DD 1/2 low sugar, gluten free rusk, 3/4 banana and some raspberries and milk to drink. This works and rather than relying on a laxative or prune juice which quite frankly has a strong/odd taste even when diluted, I think it would be good for your DD to be interested in something that does the trick, tastes delicious and is full of good vits.

One of my dd favorate puddings is tinned prunes (you need to take the stones out) and custard. Give it a go. It might save you having to dr your dd juice.
