How to start a routine

My little boy is 5 and a half months old, and we have just started weaning with small amounts of veg purée this week. He was breastfed until 4 months old, and since starting formula has been diagnosed with cows milk allergy so is on specialist formula. Once he's had a couple of weeks to get used to solids, I'd love to get him into some sort of a daytime routine, which we definitely lack at the moment! He's a cat napper, so will rarely sleep for longer than 45 mins and won't take more than 6oz in a bottle at a time, having it roughly every 3-3.5 hours. He currently goes to bed at 7ish, and wakes at 2am for a feed, then wakes again about 6.

I think his lack of daytime routine is partly to blame for his short naps, so would love to know what kind of routine might suit him and how to start this!

His evening sleeping is amazing. I would not change anything!

I'd start with trying to get him to go a little longer between feeds AND naps - I know it's not always possible. Try to stretch out the feeds and he may be hungrier than usual.

Eventually you'll be able to find a routine that works for you.

Hope this helps. x

There’s a sample routine on here you could maybe work to suit your baby:

Thanks for advice. I'm hoping that as he has more solids he'll go a bit longer between feeds and take more. I think he's a snacker as a result of being EBF and then reacting to the various formulas we tried so he wasn't absorbing it all properly. Hopefully now his milk is sorted that will
Help as well

He isn't having short naps and feeds really. He is sleeping extraordinarily well over night so needs more regular food in the day doesn't he?
