Absolute toddler rage

I'm actually talking about my rage, not my toddler's.

Not 30 minutes goes by in the day where my 18mo DD does not either bite, smack, scratch or (current favourite) pinch me.

It's been going on for a good couple of months now and at 35 weeks pregnant and feeling pretty tired, I'm starting to lose my cool with it.

What I've been trying to do is say in a calm but firm voice, "No, you don't hurt Mummy". If she carries on, I walk away. Several times she's followed me and done it again, so on those times I've put her in a "time out" for half a minute (which seems plenty for her) until she calms down.

Tonight she kicked me full bore in the (gigantic) belly while I changed her nappy and I'm sorry to say I yelled at her. Loudly. Actually she didn't seem bothered in the slightest, which made me feel even worse. What am I doing wrong here? I know she knows what she's doing but clearly my methods are ineffectual. Any tips, anyone?

Ask Dr Sears has some good tips on stopping biting here OP?

If your having trouble keeping calm have you read Calm Parent - Happy Kids?

Are you able to get some time for yourself too? Maybe do some PG yoga or have a nap when she naps?

Thank you so much for replying - I'll take a look at the link.

For complicated reasons I won't bore you with, there's just no time for time out at the moment so I'm definitely feeling the strain. I am usually very calm but I did snap today. I'm more frustrated with not being able to make a difference to the situation than the actual biting etc, annoying as that is!
