Creches - Anyone use them? I am scared!

I really want to start swimming more, and the local centre has a creche but I just don't know about leaving DS. He is 13 months, and an easy baby but I feel really guilty if I left him there for an hour. Are staff really qualified? I am scared he will want something and they won't know - he has a hungry cry, a thirsty cry, a milk cry, a dirty bum cry, a tired cry, a bored cry, a "I have got my toy stuck" cry and I am worried they won't know what to do Please someone come along and tell me it's all right (unless it isn't!). I was thinking about once, maybe twice a week. Not for long, hour maximum really...
Thanks x

hmm doesn't say much really. I still think a creche for lo's should change nappies and give bottles - why not ring you LEA Early Years dept and ask their opinion. fwiw a good few years ago I used an Ofsted approved creche at an Adult Education centre and they did.

Yep thats right about the nappy changing, because its a creche its generally a short-time so child should not poo in "allocated time slot" ....

Tbh some of my friends had some concerns too as its a 8 week training course and voila, trained creche assistant!!!

The trouble with using a creche is they can have different carers working every time you go. Over time, a child will buld a relationship wiht a child minder, but it's unlikely the same will happen with the carers working in a creche.

Also, although I'm not sure exactly about this, but aslong as one of the staff is fully qualified (NVQ3, BTEC, NNEB) The other staff don't need to be as qualified.

preschool is that, pre, as in before, school
its the year before they start school, so they will be maybe 3 comign up for 4 possibly even close to 5
