Taking my 8m old baby to Mallorca in 2 weeks. Temperature should be low 20s which I'm hoping will be fine for her- do you have any good tips for taking a baby on holiday? Im a little nervous about taking her away and I'm hoping to learn from others experience!

Is she bottle or formula feed? What facilities does where you are staying have?

We rang boots and were able to order nappies to airside store. We put the nappies inside the buggy bag with the buggy as you hand over the buggy when you get to the gate. This saved us room in your suitcase.

Sling for the airport. We borrowed a boba air which is not the most comfortable but folds down small.

Great thanks! She is half and half at the moment. I still breastfeed her first thing and mid-afternoon and she has formula mid-morning and through the night. She eats three meals a day now.

Hire a baby bouncy seat for your room
Really easy In popular Spanish resorts
We hired a steriliser too but you may not need this if you are breastfeeding

Lots of little baby toys in a drawstring bag, little ones that could be clipped onto buggy straps so that when you are at the beach baby can be in the buggy under shade and have a selection of toys to play with whilst sitting up in buggy
We just kept them all in one bag which we popped under buggy

Small inflatable paddling pool for the beach, and a collapsible bucket to fill it with. Set it up under a sunshade.

Also we take a box of Farley’s rusks
Really easy to make into a little quick meal / snack with milk or mashed up banana etc

We take a little cheap thin rubber bath mat from Poundland because not all accommodations have rubber mats inside baths and foreign baths are usually metal and very deep so baths can be tricky
The little rubber mat means baby won’t slip as you sit them up to bath them

We always take our own baby spoons / plastic bowls
Bottle brush

We download CBeebies episodes to keep baby occupied if we are getting ready , strap into buggy , prop tablet on table , gives u ten mins to do make up etc

Thinnest Gro bag - can’t remember our tog but it’s just like the thin cotton one thickness of a sheet . I put baby to bed on holiday in nappy / Bodysuit then grobag . As I often find the hotel supply travel cot but with a full size sheet as the cover so don’t want baby rolling around and getting tangled up in adult size sheet/ cover

We have 3 DC and have travelled twice a year with all three since small babies

Ooh another thing is for the aeroplane , I keep teething gel and put it on a dummy for them to suck during take off and landing to help sooth mouth / ears . Also keep the sachets of calpol in my hand luggage

Always change of clothing for baby for arrival at destination airport
So for example my baby’s go in aeroplane in sleepsuit as it can be quite drafty and they are comfy / easy access , then when I land I change them into footless rompers at airport

We're going to Mallorca in 2 weeks as well but ours is 15 months. I don't want to derail the thread, but is it better to buy toys and baby supplies there? We're going to Palmanova and DH says we can get everything we need when we arrive. That makes me very nervous. Confused

Lower your expectations of having time to relax- we found holidays before youngest was 3 were harder work than being at home. Now they are brilliant.

Early holidays were still enjoyable and we gave each other time off, but nothing like pre- children holidays. I'm so glad we did them, though, as the memories are lovely.

Spanish baby food can have lots of added sugar.

Take a travel black out blind for your room.

All in one UV suits are good for the pool.

Cheap buckets bought at the beach - babies love playing with sand and water.

Wash baby in the sink if there's no bath in your room.

Cartons of formula are handy.

Lots of snacks and small, new toys for the plane.

We’re in Spain with an 8 month old now! My tips

Paper bibs (they sell tomy tippee ones for £3 for loads) so you’re not taking home loads of wet bibs.

Buy swim nappies at home as they are £10+ in resort, buy normal nappies there (around £7 for 35) bring your own wipes as they seem to all be perfumed.

Take a travel cold water steriliser, check the hotel has a kettle for making bottles. Buy some Evian water (enough to get you through a day or so) at the airport as you can make formula with this brand and they sell it in Spain.

We’re staying half board and the food is buffet style and nothing suitable for babies apart from fruit, luckily we bought some kiddylicious pouches for the evenings (making do for breakfast and lunch) we usually cook stuff fresh at home but for a week away it’s easier and you know it’s not full of salt.
