SAHM's - remind me how great it is and that you kept your sanity!

I am a SAHM with an almost 4yr old and an almost 1 year old and at times I wonder whether I will become slighty mad
I sometimes find it hard to accept that there are times when my DC drive me insane with their behaviour.
Maybe it is because my DS2 is going through major separation anxiety so every time I leave the room he has a melt down.
DS1 has just dropped his occasional afternoon nap and so is completely cranky and hyper by 4pm.
I want to enjoy the time I have left with them both before DS1 starts school in September.
Please tell me this is just another phase and I will be smiling again soon and not through gritted teeth.

You are not alone. I have a 4 year old DD, starting school in september and one year old twins.I feel exactly the same. Love them but they doo drive me mad sometimes. I hope its a phase too.... otherwise we can go mad together. safety in numbers!!!(wink)

Now I feel really bad, twins must be harder in some ways. At least it is not just me

no don't feel bad, the twins are fine, they entertain each other. I think its the older one needing constant stimulation and really being ready for some all-day fun at school. Shes so energetic, I am basically struggling to keep up with her! And its harder when it rains all day.

I too am a SAHM but have only got a 9 month old ds so not sure what its like with more than one.
At the moment he has bad seperation anxiety, wont sleep during the day anymore, has suddenly started hating his bathtime and screams the place down and sometimes I feel like I'll end up going nuts! Its great to be able to hand him over to dh when he comes in from work.
Hoping its a phase and everything will calm down soon. He has become a serial whinger and gets absolutley distraught whenever I have to leave the room. Its knackering me out lol. But on the whole I love being a SAHM

I think that however bad things seem one day, the next is usually better. Keep busy, go out and about as much as possible. That's how I have survived . It makes you feel more in control to be out of the house, staying indoors just seems to drive us all up the wall. And then people will smile at you and your baby and you feel so proud that it makes it all worthwhile. But yes, generally feel knackered rest of the time!!

That's me.......

Don't feel guilty. Small children are incredibly annoying, even your own and even though you love them. We are not designed to spend days without adult conversation.

You haven't got long, fizzylemonade, before your ds starts school so things will get a lot easier then.
