BLW what do give 6 mo?

Hi,

Just a bit confused by it all! I’ve done plain steamed veg sticks (carrot, broccoli etc) wholewheat pasta, avocado/hummus toast fingers.
What else can I give my baby at only 6 months? When do I move on from plain stuff?

Thank you!

You can give them anything just no honey , raw shell fish and nuts .
Cut up grapes to

I've been giving DS all sorts. Bits of pasta and spaghetti Bol mix (pre salt addition obviously), scrambled egg, refried beans, toast, dhal.. just some of whatever I'm having really.

There's loads of good BLW groups on Facebook for inspiration

Yep, as others have said, you can just dive straight in with whatever you're eating. Just no honey, no whole nuts, no more than 1g salt a day, and cut up any major choking hazards like grapes and cherry tomatoes. The baby led weaning U.K. group on Facebook is good :)

The BLW cookbook is really useful for ideas and recipes.

Mine enjoyed things like omelette and pancakes cut into strips, noodles, cucumber sticks (good for teething because they're cool), cheese cut into sticks. By 7 months his favourite was chicken curry with rice, he's had whatever we've had since. The best advice I was given is that 'food is for fun until they're one' - so don't stress about it, just let them have fun trying different things and experimenting.

Mine liked eggy bread, sweet potato fries, and we moved on to less plain stuff really quickly!

Just whatever you’re eating minus lots of added salt, sugar, honey or whole nuts. It helps if it’s somewhat chunky or fist sized for them to pick up, but doesn’t have to be. We never offered plain food though I did have to be mindful of size and shape and not feeding things that were too slippery to start. But really just whatever you’re eating with a few modifications.

Porridge fingers, cheese straws, eggy bread, cheese on toast and sandwich3 are all easy. If you want to stick on a long sleeved bid and get more messy try sausage and beans, just cut the sausage lengthways to stop it being a choking hazard, roast dinner using reduced salt gravy, fish pie, spag bol, korma and rice (you can cool it down with natural yogurt if you’re worried about the heat).

Oh and there’s a great Weaning Section on MN too Smile
