DS is now 2.5. Has noooo idea about potty training. I'm not worried yet but worried I should be!

He has no idea. We leave him with nappy off time (or more to the point he takes his own nappy off ), and obviously he will wee or even poo on the floor on occaision (we have laminate! ). Despite regular prompting to try the potty DS doesn't want to know. He gets very upset when accidents happen. I wondered if by carrying on with the nappy off time he might begin to associate feelings but am now worried it might be too upsetting for him. He still regularly poos in his sleep which makes me think that he really just isn't properly aware as yet. Is there anything I should or shouldn't be doing to try and ease the process for DS?

Without being in his room it is hard to know, but I think it is when he is asleep. He isn't all that interested in the loo either atm.

Floss - my DS1 was over 3 before he was trained. We tried him when he was 2.75 but he had no intererst. Then we left it for a bit, and started when he was ready, and he ws dry within a week and clean within about 6 (including at night)

I had a thread not long ago seeing how many people had a 2 and a half plus child who was not nappy trained and the response was very encouraging. DS is 2y8m and resolutely refuses the toilet or potty. I mention at changing time and make no fuss when he says "I not quite big enough yet, wait bit longer" just ask him again the next time. He will get there at his own pace.

I'll admit I was rather hoping not to have two in nappies, but ho hum I guess there are worse things! And he may well surprise me!

DS1 was nearly 3 before we finally 'forced' the potty training onto him - he wasn't really ready (but was showing no signs of wanting to be dry) but I felt it was 'now or never' as DS2 was due shortly after his 3rd birthday and I knew I'd never have the time/patience to do anything about it. It took about 6/7 weeks of the same number of accidents a day before he 'cracked' it - although poos remained an issue for well over a year after that.

DS1 is now 6 1/2 (well 3/4 really) and still wet at night - think he's just one of those 'late' developers in these things.

DS2 was the complete opposite he was 2 1/2 when we 'tried' and he took to it like a duck to water - infact I think we could probably have done it earlier had I thought about it.

He's still in nappies at night, but I can't see him staying in them as long as DS2 did - and of course I have DS3 due in the next few weeks so we'll be back to 2 in nappies.........and one wetting the bed everynight (DS1 WON'T wear a nappy of any description just wants to "keep trying" .

Try not to worry about it.
