DD comes to my slimming club, is that wrong?

I go to a slimming club every Friday and have always taken DD with me (it’s my day off so no childcare). Recently I’ve started to wonder if it will have some long term effect on her and she’ll end up a weight/body confidence complex. On the other hand, she’s nearly 2 so probably doesn’t even know what’s going on when we’re there? Should I stop taking her?

I wouldn’t take her personally but then I have Issues around weight/food and get very paranoid about the kids inheriting them.

I think it depends what that individual club is like and how they frame what they are saying?

If its very health based I doubt it will be a problem... but if they focus loads on weightloss without talking about health then it might be more of an issue.

I went to slimming world and I found that it was very positive about body image. Well my particular group was. No one had unrealistic goals and we mostly spoke about how much more energy we had. Big emphasis on eating well rather than starving. Seemed to be promoting a healthy long term lifestyle rather than just quick weightloss so I wouldnt hesitate to have a daughter do the class or listen in on one.

I’ve seen loads of people go with their young children to our local one, it’s on a Tuesday morning so I imagine difficult to find childcare for pre schoolers for. I can’t see that it would do any harm at all. Better that their parents are actively trying to be healthier.

I used to go with my mum and nanny before I was old enough to go to school. I'd say I have a funny relationship with food. I feel like I have to earn it before I can eat it. I grew up around my mum and nanny constantly on diets

The group I go to is mainly very positive and we have a bit of a laugh really so not all about ‘diet’ if you know what I mean. Mostly about leading a healthy lifestyle and a bit of catching up with what everyone’s been up to. Obviously want to instil a healthy lifestyle in DD but I don’t want her to be put off by me getting weighed every week

SIL looks after DD 18mo whilst we are at work and takes her to WW every Wednesday. She loves it. The group dote on her and there are a group of younger than school age children that go along with their mums.

I think a song as it is a positive group it is fine.

My mum used to take me to her Weight Watchers meetings and I'm pretty sure that's where my issues around food started, so I wouldn't take my kids along.
