Do your toddlers have dessert?
Not massive slabs of sticky toffee pudding and cream, but even fruit mixed in with yoghurt, jelly etc?

No reason for this - just intrigued Grin

Yes usually. Either a yogurt or some fruit.

PinkHeart5914 · 04/05/2018 16:01

Yes, in the week it’s normally fruit, jelly or yoghurt. At weekends they have the same dessert as me and dh which is normally things like cheesecake, sticky tofee pud etc etc

Hideandgo · 04/05/2018 16:02

Often yes.

Ivegotfamilyandidrinkcupsoftea · 04/05/2018 16:04

Yes

Mostly fruit or yogurt

Eatmycheese · 04/05/2018 16:06

Yes
Fruit after most meals
Fromage frais
Yoghurt
Sometimes custard / ice cream / homemade rice pudding / homemade cake

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 04/05/2018 16:09

I don't sit them down with a dessert usually unless we're all having the same things, but they do have cake or chocolate and they snack on yogurts and fruit during the day.

ProseccoPoppy · 04/05/2018 16:10

Yes - usually fruit sometimes yogurt.

pastabest · 04/05/2018 16:15

Yes.

Usually yoghurt (generally a little Yeo) or one of the mini pots of rice pudding.

I've gathered from mumsnet that my 15mo eats too much fruit as it is so I now try and avoid giving it to her after supper too.

QuestioningStuffBanana · 04/05/2018 16:16

Dessert isn't an everyday thing for me (not much of a sweet tooth) so it's not something I ever think to do for dd. Even if I did she probably wouldn't eat it tbh. She doesn't eat much.

Namajesty · 04/05/2018 16:16

Yes, yoghurt and berries and sometimes fruit salad

Squaffle · 04/05/2018 16:19

Yep, fruit after lunch and yoghurt after tea.

Oly5 · 04/05/2018 16:22

Yes, mostly fruit and yoghurt. Occasionally I’ve crewm or another sweet pudding

Nan0second · 04/05/2018 16:25

Almost always fruit.
Jelly / cake etc weekends only and only at one meal.
We try to minimise snacking though from a teeth / obesity point of view but she may have a biscuit at toddler group.

Cineraria · 04/05/2018 16:27

There is fresh fruit available after any meal if he's still hungry but he only likes banana so he might have that a couple of times a week. After dinner he sometimes has a couple of small squares of dark chocolate. Maybe once a week we'd have jelly, baked apples or crumble or some other cooked fruit type of thing, which he loves and if we eat out, he might have sorbet or dairy free ice cream.

yorkiepudsnutellaandicecream · 04/05/2018 16:35

Good to know!
Mine usually have fruit or yoghurt/both mixed together, or frozen yoghurt, and once/sometimes twice a week will have ice cream, rice pudding or a little cake slice (like mr kiplings little angel slice) or something.
When we're out for dinner it's a different story!!

yorkiepudsnutellaandicecream · 04/05/2018 16:36

Oh and jelly - can't forget the jelly. I like to put berries etc in it for them

bluechameleon · 04/05/2018 16:43

Mine isn't really a toddler anymore (3.5) but he is always allowed fruit or yoghurt. If he hasn't had other sugary food in the day I might offer him banana custard, an ice lolly or jelly. If we've baked something he might have some of that, or if he has Christmas or Easter chocolate he is allowed one piece a day as his pudding. I have a real sweet tooth and am far too ready to get cakes or ice creams when we are out but I am making an effort to reduce this for both of us.

KoshaMangsho · 04/05/2018 16:44

Yes. I have always served food as three courses. Some small bits as a starter. Then the main and then fruit and yoghurt as dessert.

mindutopia · 04/05/2018 17:14

Mine often but not always had some fruit or yogurt after supper (not lunch). She’s now 5 and actually doesn’t have it as often now as she has a sizeable snack in the afternoon and eats lots for supper, but maybe 3 times a week she might. It was only ever if she’d eaten her main nicely. If she refused to try things or wouldn’t eat anything, then she’d only have some milk before bed, no fruit or yogurt.

DuchyDuke · 04/05/2018 17:17

No but we aren’t dessert people. If they want fruit or plain yoghurt it’s available as a snack, but meals are savoury.

BananaRumpus · 04/05/2018 17:19

No regular dessert here for our 2 year old. She eats the same as us and we don't eat dessert unless we have people round for lunch / dinner. She has fruit snacks every day and fruit with breakfast. Her nursery don't serve desserts either.

user1493413286 · 04/05/2018 19:43

Usually yoghurt, jelly or fruit and sometimes a plain biscuit
