Baby first injections

My baby is she her first injections in just a few weeks, I was all set to get them done, didn't even give it a second thought. Then I read some anti vac stuff a friend had posted on Facebook and this prompted me to look into it a bit further.

Ugh, I just wish I hadn't. I realise the importance of childhood immunisation and still plan to have my daughter immunised but hate seeing all this stuff saying it's linked to SIDS and autism.

Please someone talk me down. Logically I know all the thousands of babies who are vaccinated every day and they are fine. I just feel really guilty and I'm not sure why. Like I'm putting her in danger.

Please tell me I'm worrying for nothing, and maybe what to actually expect.

Thanks!

It will be fine Flowers

The research suggesting vaccines cause ASD is extremely flawed. Please do not allow one unfounded article prevent you from protecting your child.

SatNavRequired · 03/05/2018 22:34

Although I do appreciate if you decided not to vaccinate, that you are doing that in the interest of protecting your child too. I just strongly disagree with this rationale.

Step away from the FB shite.
If you must Google then look into the scary illnesses the vaccinations protect our children from.

You would be putting her (and other babies and children!) more at risk if you didn't vaccinate her for all of the awful, horrifically painful, PREVENTABLE diseases that luckily modern medicine is able to stop.

The anti-vac movement is full of ill-informed and frankly ignorant people who think scaremongering is the way forward to bully and frighten people into advocating their cause.

Your baby will be absolutely fine. Maybe a little grumpy from being jabbed by a stranger but hey, she'll forget it in an instant.

Please don't feel guilty and like you're putting her in danger. As I said at the beginning of my post, it's the total and complete opposite.

Exactly what everyone else is saying, the 'research' is very very flawed and any medical professional you speak to would tell you to get your DC vaccinated.

I also feel it's important to acknowledge that people with ASD are just as wonderful as your or I may be. The difference is the physical illnesses can cause serious/grave outcome.

Jesus it's 20 years this year since Andrew Wakefield had his flawed info published re autism and MMR. TWENTY years of scientists actively looking to replicate his findings. They haven't managed. It's bollocks.

Evangeline3 · 03/05/2018 23:18

I'm getting my baby vaccinated.
It doesn't cause autism, that's a pack of lies.
Your baby will be fine.

Thanks everyone, really just needed to hear this and have this hand hold. I do fully believe in vaccination, just needed to hear some rational folk, it's easy for your worries to run away with you with a new baby!
