when do you relax when you're toilet training???

We started toilet training DD on saturday. She has done wees on the toilet/potty over the last few weeks and was showing a few other signs of being ready.
She's doing really well and we've only had two 'accidents' so far. The first one was I think down to her being scared to do her poo on the toilet/potty the first day and the second accident was today at a birthday party when i think she was just too busy playing and having fun.

But I feel drained and exhausted from the constant watching and thinking about it all the time (yes, yes, I'm a wimp and I should get a grip )

Please remind me how long it will be before I can relax again?

you'll be running behind your dd for a while. I found not going to friends house for a few weeks helped things - ask if they can come to you.

things like travel and school pick ups can be a worry but some how these were ok.

Good luck

thanks maisym. I did put the potty under the pushchair this morning for the school run just in case. DS can go for hours without weeing so i hope DD will be the same .
I did post on another thread but may i ask you the same question please? Did you go nappyless straight away for lunchtime naps or did you use a 'sleep' nappy (that's what we've called it so far for bedtime and naptime to try and ease any confusion)?

This is probably why I haven't really begun potty training ds in earnest, or at all actually, if I'm honest. (He's 2.4 now). He's my fourth and with each child there has been less and less time to put into actually potty training. DS3 went straight onto the loo by-passing potties.

Whilst part of me would love to get him out of nappies, I honestly don't see where I'll get time for the level of vigilance required for the method you describe.

I didn't start with DS until he was nearly 3 spidermama because he was showing all the signs of NOT being ready until then (we had a try when he was 2 and a half and it was a complete disaster).
We had one day of accidents and then the next day was completely different and we never looked back.
DD really seems to be enjoying it all even but like horsemadgal, It's making me shattered.
And we'll just get all this sorted and tehn we'll have to sort out the nighttime nappies - yippee!!

Horsemadgal - what are you doing at nap time?

I used a nap time nappy for a while - to save on washing & also increase dd confodence as she would always wee in her nap.

horsemadgal · 15/05/2007 13:14

mckenzie, DS is 3 and doesn't always have a nap. If he falls asleep it is on the sofa which is leather. I pop the changing mat (material one from change bag) under him!!

thanks for the replies.
well, today i decided to be brave (or stupid) and DD is having her nap now with knickers on. I think i might have picked the wrong day though as she was late going up and so I will have to wake her now ready for school pick up time. not sure if that's for the better or worse. Oh well, only one way to find out
