My DS joined his current school in Year 3. He settled in well but during Y4 had problems with a boy (I’ll call him Y) in another class during playtimes. This boy is a teachers child. Essentially the boy would say my DS couldn’t play. DS said he was fine about it so I left him to cope. End result he ended up sobbing on a bench after one to many times of being told he couldn’t play. I then spoke to his class teacher and she said she would deal with it. That seemed to be the end of it, although we never did get any feedback about how it had been resolved. My DS says the child never gets told off and ‘owns’ the playground. So all has been fine until today when DS casually mentions over tea that there was an issue at playtime with same child and his friend (I’ll call him C from now on). So they were picking teams and Y is the one choosing. C calls over to him don’t choose DS. DS then says to him what’s wrong and C replies I don’t like you, you’re annoying (DS has never been in a class with C and interaction between the two is limited). They continue to pick teams and DS is the last one to be picked. It is Y’s turn to choose and he says to the other team - you can have DS. DS tells me this is said like he’s something on his shoe!!! The parents of C & Y are close friends. My DS doesn’t want me to speak to school but I’m concerned this is the start of it all again. Additionally, if my DS was going around telling people he didn’t like them and they’re annoying I’d want to know!! I’ve recently had parents evening and according to the teacher all is well and my DS gets on with his peers and is sociable.
