How do I wash my nappies?

OK help please I've read through and can't find this? I can't understand half the stuff about wraps and prefolds etc etc but maybe I'll come back to that and I'm sure more questions will follow.
I have a motherese wrap and some bambinomeos I fold and put in, all going well so far but I'd like advice about washing.
What do I use? I normally use non bio on the kids stuff but it doesn't remove poo any advice?
Thanks

I use non-bio and don't find a problem with it removing poo. I usually wash at 60 - use half the amount of detergent that you would for a normal wash.

Actually, thinking about it there have been occasions when poo stains are persistant - jsut leave the nappies in the sun for a bit - it will bleach any stains out.

Absolutly, use non bio and no conditioner. Wash at up to 60 degrees, any more and it will damage the nappies and wraps over a prolonged period. As BonyM says, hang out to dry in the sun to bleach out any stains

Lemon juice is a good stain remover for nappies and wraps, I put some on the stained area, leave for a few mins, then put through the wash as usual. It gets most things out. Sunshine is also fantastic so get those nappies on the line as much as you can. Fleece liners can help prevent staining, and you could also make sure you wet the stained area (if not soaking your nappies) as this will help stop the stain setting while the nappy waits for wash day.

I do mine at 40 with an extra rinse and line dry whenever possible, then give them all a quick 5 minute tumble dry to soften them all up, and use Ecover (about 60-70ml - hard water area).
With the pooey nappies I rinse them out in the sink and then give them a quick handwash before tossing them in the bin - but when I had more than 1 a day I just put them all in the bucket dry, then the night before a wash put them to soak in water, stir with spoon (special one for nappies!), empty water, redo, then leave in soak with some detergent overnight. Works fine for me!

Thanks guys they are in the machine waiting for me to switch it on. Tomorrow morning I think. Although I heard it will rain until June could have guessed it would the moment I get the real nappies on, maybe I'll be kind and use disposables over the bank holiday we

OK I now have a load of washing satined with poo I washed at 50 with 1 tablet Tesco non bio, put some vanish on some of the clothes which are fine and the rest/the nappies have poo stains all over them. They have been kept wet. I am waiting for the sun to shine. I don't really mind about the nappies but it feels a bit bad to have to keep using the vanish!

Did you wash them with other clothes or am I missreading what you say? If so I would only wash wet not soiled nappies with other clothes. If you have left the nappies longer than a day without washing them then the stains do tend to set, they will bleach out if you hang them on the line. If it does bother you you could try soaking the nappies rather than dry pailing (if that's what you were doing)

If you have hard water you may need to use more powder than folk in soft water areas

Thanks snugglebumnappies I ws in fact doing it all wrong then. Will try again when they dry. (yes I was attmpting to dry pail but suddenly nothing is drying)
