I'm due my 3rd baby soon and I've gone down the reusable nappy rote this time, really cant wait to use them, just been thinking about when I'm out & about, DH said just use nappy sacks but feel that they may split while in the changing bag (with all the stuff you have a carry for/with a new born) so I was wondering how/what do you do and/or use? I was thinking about maybe a wash bag/wet bag sort of thing!?

I just used a nappy sack (you can get biodegradable ones) but you can buy special dirty nappy bags from the nappy sellers. I think a generously sized wash bag would be the same though - depends how many you think you'll need to cart around.

I use carrier bags

Nemo2007 · 14/05/2007 11:14

I use nappy sacks or I did buy a big tots bots wet bag but have never used it..lol If you want to buy it let me know as its just sitting under the dining table.

I used a special bag (the type Soupy mentions) - this type of thing .

BabyMadnBump · 14/05/2007 11:15

I was only thinking of carrying one cover, about 3 pre-folds and a few liners, so not to much!

Yeah I use a tote bag, they aren't too expensivem the Tots Bots ones are £5.45 ish and will hold a good 10 tots bots nappies so you could get away with something smaller for prefolds

Thanks ladies! off to have a look at some websites!

I've used the Tots Bots wet nappy bags and the Nature Babies ones too, I like both, I had a denim Nature Babies one which always got lots of attention! Useful for toilet training accidents too (which is what we use them for now as we're out of nappies).

UniSarah · 15/05/2007 21:50

I did have the tots bots bag but its not waterproof anymore after 12 months use. I replaced it with a large wash bag from the chemist down the road.
I expect to have 2 or 3 wet nappies in it by teh end of a long day out. But most outings to mums and tots or shops etcI only take one spare cloth nappy and an emergency dizzy that very seldom gets used.

hana · 15/05/2007 21:53

just remembered that once I changed dd2 in mothercare and chucked the nappy in the bin
was only when I got home that I remembered that it was a lovely lilac new totsbots. I was so angry with myself. Needless to say the staff wouldn't check for me!

hana · 15/05/2007 21:53

not sure why I've shared that, bit irrelevent to the thread
but hope y9ou found a bag!

bobsmum · 15/05/2007 21:55

I use a nappy sack then a drawstring waterproof bag.

I got mine from Nappies by Minki (from Kittykins.co.uk) so I could get the matching stripey change mat

It's indestructable IMO and I wash it every now and again with the nappies.

Mine holds about 3/4 nappies which is plenty for a day out or overnight.

bobsmum · 15/05/2007 21:56

Hana - I would be gutted!! I chucked a polka dot tots wrap in the bin on holiday and I feel your pain

hana · 15/05/2007 21:59

I cried [sad}
money was tight

BabyMadnBump · 17/05/2007 16:35

I would do as well hana!

Thanks ladies, been all round the house got every wash/wet bag I could find washed them and put them away ready for baby and I forgot that I had this small baby organizer thing it has 2 compartments so I think I will use that when out all day, one side for the clean and the other for dirty doubled up by a nappy sack tho, just in case! Thanks again

If you stick a cotton wool ball with lavender or tea tree oil drops on it inside the bag, helps with the smell!

Chirpygirl · 17/05/2007 20:16

I use a zip up wet nappy bag but also take some food/freezer ziplock sealing bags as well, they are great for emergencies when the other bag is full and they seal so well there is no smell or anything.

Also handy for puked on clothes to avoid the stench!

theUrbanDryad · 18/05/2007 17:48

another one here for the Tots Bots wet bag. tis fab. also works well for wet/dirty clothes.
