Re-waterproofing old wraps....how?

Someone told me you can get stuff which you put ?in the tumble dryer with your wraps and it will make them waterproof again. I think she said it was designed for outdoor coats etc but works for nappy wraps too. Anyone tried this? How much is it and what does it involve? I'm on DC3 and so my wraps are just not as watertight as they were and I'd love it if there was a way to avoid buying a whole new set.

also wondered if i might dye them as a bit grey and faded now...would I just use normal dylon fabric dye?

Wash them with fabric softener and then tumble dry them. That's supposed to work.
Can't help with the dyeing sorry.

i don't think they would dye, as it generally only works on cotton fabric.
don't know about waterproofing though

ok googled and found some things:

"Maybe you could try a reproofing spray from some place like Millets and try. I wouldn't get rid of them without giving it a go! I bought some for my leaking BGs but haven't tried it yet."

"Perhaps someone can advise on the suitability of such products around a baby, but I know that wash-in re-waterproofing agents such as Nikwax wash can be bought in the likes of Millets. You just use it instead of your normal detergent in a machine or hand wash. It is designed for topping up the protection on things like breathable Goretex, so shouldn't leave your wraps like plastic or anything. A bottle that will do 5-10 washes depending on water hardness is only around £3 so worth a go,"

excellent will pop to nearest Tiso/Millets and give it a go!

Thanks.
