When to take my newborn to a restaurant?

Hello there,

I hope this isn't too silly a question but I am double guessing my self and wanted to see what the general consensus was. My dd is 6days old and I am starting to feel a bit better after the birth. There is a new restaurant that has opened and my DH and I thought we could take DD our to this for a couple of hours.

What I'm worried about is that she hasn't had her injections yet/ could catch a cold.

Am I just over-thinking this?Have others taken their children out at this age?

Many thanks for any advice. Smile

I wouldn’t suggest hibernating for the first 8 weeks, so I say go for it Smile

DD was in the John Lewis cafe on day 3.

I'd have lost my marbles if I'd had to stay in.

Everywhere around here is full of prams during the day.

Go for it!

She'll get a cold at some point. And she'll be fine. It's good for her immune system and just as importantly, your mental health.

We took DS to a restaurant at a week old and have been taking him out with us ever since. Definitely do it!

Babies are so much more portable when they are tiny. If you leave it till they are older, they will sleep less, be needing to eat proper food (solids=messy), crawling, needing entertaining. New borns will (hopefully) sleep through the entire event and if they do wake up, will hopefully be content to be fed and then go back in their seat/pray to continue their nap.

Thank you all for the reassurance! I will take her out- you are quite right-I can't stay in for months!

Thanks again. Smile

When you’re feeling up for it. With our first, I can’t remember, but our 2nd probably by 2 weeks. Don’t let another child with active chicken pox poke them, but short of that all fine!
