My 3.5 year old is toilet trained in the day bar the occasional accident and a general aversion to going to the loo unless he’s absolutely desperate. However since he’s been dry in the day he’s been very wet overnight (still in nappies/pull ups overnight) as he seems to wee loads in his sleep. I’m assuming he’s just not weeing enough in the day, we make him go for a wee pre bath and just before putting his nappy on for bed but a lot of mornings he’s got wet pj’s and bed as the nappy just hasn’t held all the wee. I’m happy enough with the fact he needs nappies in bed as I know this is something he will grow out of and I can’t train him out of it, but I don’t want him being wet through. It doesn’t wake him or cause any issues with his skin luckily.
I was wondering if anyone had any help in trying to limit the overnight wee. I don’t want to go back to making him go to the loo every couple of hours in the day like the beginning of potty training but I may need to (I doubt pre School would be able to do that either when he has full days). What are the best overnight nappies/pull up pants for absorbency? Should I even put on a nappy and a pull up? He’s a big child and more like a 4-5 year old. I’ve been using 6+ nappies.
Any help appreciated!
