Books on bilingual upbringing

I was wondering if anyone can recommend any books raising children bilingual.
I speak German, dp English and dd (13m) is raised bilingual but I have not done much background reading about the subject.
Is there a highly recommended book that could help?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Romy, I have the book "Zweisprachige Kindererziehung" by Bernd Kielhöfer und Sylvie Jonekeit which I think is great (dd is learning English from me and German from everybody else) and "Mit zwei Sprachen groß werden" by Elke Montanari (oK, but I like the first one better. Family is German/French, but does not matter, of course ). In English there's "A Parent's Guide to Bilingualism" by Pamela Fitzpatrick. All books are available on amazon.de (if you are in Germany). I enjoyed reading those books, but some things will probably not apply to you, as every family is different. The one thing that is really important is the OPOL-rule. If you want to chat or discuss anything, feel free to CAT me. Good luck und viel Erfolg.

Hi,
I am currently reading Mit zwei Sprachen gross werden von Elke Montanari and find it interesting and informative.

My dd is five and speaks both English and German, although her German is better, mainly because she is in Kindergarten all day so hears more German. Ds will be 3 in summer and is just starting to realise that he speaks two languages.

Thank you everyone, I will have a look at amazon to find these books.

linjasmom, I don't do CAT (no idea how it works) but might ask again. DD only 13months, so not speaking yet but we do the OPOL approach. We live in the UK and I am at work all day so getting her to learn German will be trickier but I'm determined.
