Advice on prams

Hi. This is my first post and I need a bit of advice. My DD is 4 months old on Friday and she is a very nosey baby.
We have a Baby Jogger mini GT with carrycot, which I love especially as the stroller part is easy to collapse and as I don't drive and will be traveling into London a lot when she is old its really handy. However, she has started to not like lying down in th carrycot and yesterday was screaming at the top of her lungs. She loves looking at what's going on around her but I think she is too young to go in the stroller part, especially as she will be facing away from me. You can't tilt our carrycot, so am tempted to by another one (either second hand or cheap one), where she can be tilted up a bit more and will be able to look around more whilst facing me. My partner thinks it's a waste of money and I can kind of see his point, especially as we are planning to try for another baby in a few years time so might need another buggy for baby and toddler then anyway. However, at the same time I think it might be better for DD if we get another one until she is bigger enough for the stroller.
I was just wondering what people thought. Thanks.

If its only for 2 months then I agree could be a waste, what about a baby carrier instead?

FancyNewBeesly · 05/04/2018 13:12

I have a baby jogger double and it has seats that are suitable from birth - does yours have the same?

PaddyF0dder · 05/04/2018 13:15

Why not buy a buggy that can convert into a baby+toddler one at a later date?

Loads available. Uppababy Vista is my personal fave. Seat faces in both directions. Pretty sure it can accommodate seat+pram in the future too.

Mine is a Baby Jogger City Select, can be used as a single or double and has so many configurations if you do have another.

caseymoo · 05/04/2018 13:41

I would just put her in the pushchair part but make sure it is reclined to a suitable angle. Doesn't need to be perfectly flat at that age at all

Chocolateanddiamonds · 05/04/2018 14:17

@fancynewbeesley with that pushchair in double mode how hard/difficult is it to get up/down stairs. I'm due Baby 2 soon and considering my options but I need to use stairs

FancyNewBeesly · 05/04/2018 14:40

Honestly? Pretty impossible. Even kerbs are a struggle with it but manageable.

FancyNewBeesly · 05/04/2018 14:41

Double buggies are very heavy generally. The ones that aren’t don’t tend to be suitable for newborns

Chocolateanddiamonds · 05/04/2018 15:13

Rats. I can't get leave my house without doing about 6stairs. They aren't buy the front door so cant even take buggy out then children. Back to the drawing board if I'm going for a double

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 05/04/2018 15:15

We have a babyjogger city mini and at that age I used a carrier a lot as DD was getting fed up with the carrycot but seemed too little for the pushchair seat. It is suitable from birth but I didn't want her to be facing away!

RockinRobinTweets · 05/04/2018 15:17

I had a BJCM and it was less than ideal for the period from carrycot to happy facing the world at about 12 months. I would absolutely buy something parent facing that's fairly cheap second hand to use during this period of time, either a babystyle oyster or similar or something like the babyjogger vue

FancyNewBeesly · 05/04/2018 16:04

The OysterMax is a fair bit lighter and easy to steer but it’s much smaller so not sure how well it would accommodate a bigger toddler

Chocolateanddiamonds · 05/04/2018 16:43

Yeh I saw the oystermax but if I get a double I will need the basket as I don't drive.
Think I might end up keeping single and babywear. Maybe get a cheap double stoller when baby is a bit bigger for long trips out

FancyNewBeesly · 05/04/2018 17:01

Sounds like a good plan. When baby is six months I really recommend the Out & About Nipper - the basket is really difficult though and a bit rubbish. I hang my twin nappy bag on the handles and carry a rucksack (I don’t drive either!)

Pebbles4886 · 06/04/2018 23:19

Thanks everyone for your advice-it's all been really helpful.

I think I am going to try her in the seat part at the weekend and see how it goes-I had completely forgotten if was suitable from birth! Dd does love the carrier so if it doesn't go well with the seat, will carry on with that until she's a bit bigger.

Thanks again everyone :)

I had the same issue with mine, so I sold it and bought a Silvercross Surf on EBay for £90!
It's perfect for my 15 week DD, she can now sit up and we can talk whilst we walk, and it can also face outwards for when she's a bit older. Smile

Pebbles4886 · 12/04/2018 14:56

Hi. Everyone! Put dd in the stroller part at the weekend and she loved it. Plus the stroller is so much lighter and easier to push without the carrycot.

Thanks again
