When will teething hell end?

Not end for good, but give me some kind of pause!

DS is nearly 5 months and he's been drooling everywhere and screaming in pain since 9 weeks old!

It's draining.

His pops are all stretchy and mucus that too tells me it's teething.

Baby Bonjela only offers a few seconds pause before the screams start again Envy

Sometimes he won't even latch on because it hurts his gums.

I've attached a picture, but basically they've looked like this for months without changing. Do they look like they're budding through?

I love the absolute bones of him but today I feel like waking off of a cliff

Bless you op have you given him anything except bongela?

Some teething gels can be used every 20 mins. There are also powders.

I give nurofen when mine are bad with teeth it kicks in fairly quickly and lasts up to 8 hours

TakeMeToTheFresh · 03/04/2018 10:44

Sorry, not only is my spelling and grammar awful in the OP but I didn't add all the bloody info. Grin (currently dealing with teething DS).

He can't have those powders A&Ps because he's allergic to milk.

Dentinox doesn't work.

I tried Calpol and that didn't seem to help either but haven't tried Neurophen Smile

I rarely use calpol for any of mine

I dont rate it

Nurofen is much better

Poor little thing. My baby girl was the same but not for quite that long, they kept coming up then disappearing again! It was so frustrating and painful for her. Neurofen is definitely better, calpol did nothing.

Try Anbesol liquid, it's absolutely brilliant stuff, you put it on your finger and rub on the gums, it was about the only thing that worked for us. Cucumber was fab too, really cold and soothing for them. They'll come through soon, and then it'll start all over again with the top ones!

So he’s been like this for 3.5 months? You must be exhausted. If he’s also got mucus in his poo, has anyone mentioned the possibility that he could have Cow’s Milk Protein Allergy (CMPA)? Mucus in poo can be a symptom.

As for the teething, I agree with the other posters. Try Ibruprofen and a teething gel. You can also trying teething rings, a clean, cool wet flannel to chew on and lollies make from your ebm Smile

Is he under an Paed or an allergy specialist TakeMe? I’m just wondering if he has got any other allergies from what you’ve described.

Is he under a Paediatric Dietician too for when you start to wean?

TakeMeToTheFresh · 03/04/2018 13:22

Hi Jilted, he is But next appointment isn't until June Sad

I have taken soya out of my diet, in hope it would help.

I’d get onto them and ask for an earlier appointment. Make a nuisance of yourself if you can. This does sound like there is something more than teething going on.

I’d also film him so that you can show the Doctors.

geekymommy · 03/04/2018 20:10

My mantra while DCs were teething was, "There are only 20 baby teeth".

Bananarama12 · 03/04/2018 20:20

I've heard anbesol is brilliant.

gleeba · 03/04/2018 20:23

We give our little one anbesol liquid and nurofen

confuddledconfuddle · 03/04/2018 20:23

Anbesol is your lifesaver - the oil version.

Although this does sound like more than teething if going on for that long. Hands in mouth do not always mean pain at 3/4 months - they have literally just found hands to suck on.

confuddledconfuddle · 03/04/2018 20:23

Liquid version - not oil

gleeba · 03/04/2018 20:27

Ooooh I didn't realise anbesol came in any form other than liquid!

confuddledconfuddle · 03/04/2018 20:55

@gleeba yup it comes in a gel form as well but like bonjela it will just wash of with saliva
