Hi, I'm starting to feel bored and need some inspiration for what activities I can do with my 13month old lo.
Everyday is becoming the same and I'm starting to climb the walls a bit.

I stay at home with my kids and the key for me was to leave the house every day. I was lucky to meet a good group of mum friends, but we go to playgroup, the library, play dates at each other’s houses, soft play, the park etc. We also do things like go to the supermarket and post office and a music class once a week.

In the house though - play with toys, building blocks, cars and balls going down a ramp, he has an indoor ride on bike thing he bombs about on, pulling plastic boxes out of the cupboard is a favourite, reading books, watching some tv (break for me), bath time playing, meal times seem to take ages, bowl of water and let him wash his toys, moving dried pasta or rice into various different containers. Basically making a huge mess hence why we went out as much as we could at that age

@Chocolateanddiamonds I can totally empathise, I can remember feeling exactly the same. Are you after things to go out and donor things to do at home or both? Smile

Chocolateanddiamonds · 01/04/2018 18:14

@JiltedJohnsJulie I suppose both. I made a thread recently on the SAHP board about getting out more.
There isn't many things to do here and I don't drive and pregnant with next baby so as much as I do want to get out more I don't want to pressure myself as such but if I have more ideas of what we can do at home might make me feel like we aren't wasting out days.
I want to make each day count before lo is having to share me.

Congratulations on the PG. When are you due? Thanks

Got to admire you for making each day count, I think I was more in survival mode at that age!

I did find it much easier in the warmer weather though.

Some things we enjoyed were:

Picnics either carpet or outside
Walks
Baking
Finger painting, you can make edible finger paints
Play doh
Duplo
Outdoor chalks
Trainset
Something like this is good too.

I used to just have 2 or 3 toys out to play with and swap them when baby had a nap, or if I didn’t manage that, I’d swap them when they went to bed. As they got older I’d swap the toys every few days.

Sone Mums find it useful to get a box of stuff together for when you feed the new baby, whichever way you do it. There’s some tips here Smile

I have a toy box in the living room so lo has selection. Which does get played with, think maybe I should not give unlimited access to it. I have times where everything is tipped out in a big mess.
Thank you. I'm due late aug/early Sept (I think I'm dated early on scan). Can't wait meet baby if not slightly nervous of a 18mth & newborn combo.

Brilliant list. Some stuff I never thought of. I'm still in too young for that frame of mind but guess I need to realise lo is growing up.

Think once the weather is nice there will be an appeal to go out more just now it's so cold and wet unless I'm going somewhere I can't bring myself to go walking.
Thanks for your tips.
